  1. I have an Allo USBridge Signature Player with Volumio, works well on ethernet cable but not able to get the WifFi dongle working. I have the WiFi adapter that is sold by Allo (URL: https://allo.com/sparky/usb-wifi-dongle.html) I reinstalled Volumio 3.449. When I go to Network > Wireless Network and turn on Wireless Networking and click Save, I get this error: Wireless restart Error while restarting wireless: Error: Command failed: Sudo /bin/systemctl/ restart wireless.service Job for wireless.service failed because the control process exited with error code. See "systemctl status wireless.service" and "journalctl -xe" for details. I've attached the screenshot for the same. Please help me get USBridge access to the wifi network as there's no ethernet connection where I've put the device in the house and I bought the dongle suggested by Allo on their website. Thanks!
  2. Allo Digione What is it? It is a transport for RaspberryPi 3 with Coax/BNC out. If your dac supports this input, read on. There are two flavours: One is a PI-hat https://allo.com/sparky/digione.html Another one a complete streamer/player assembled: https://allo.com/sparky/digione-player.html Darko's review: http://www.digitalaudioreview.net/2017/08/allos-digione-pulls-five-star-sound-quality-from-the-raspberry-pi/ Volumio's recent review: https://volumio.org/allo-digione-player-probably-best-volumio-based-spdif-transport/ Personal take: My dac happen to have galvanically isolated usb, so it sounds heavenly as it is. But sometimes RaspberryPi has been a bottleneck as these usb buffer overran/underran clipping noises leaking into the chain. I decided to try a DIGIONE, to see if it would illuminate this problem. Yes, RPI's usb was the culprit. After installing the DIGIONE on my RPI and selecting I2S Digione in Volumio config, my system sounds as good as before, without the usb induced artifacts.
  3. The Allo Boss I received today was described as the latest 1.2 version, but the card clearly says "HW REV 1.5" as you can see in the picture I've attached. I've plugged it onto my Raspberry Pi 3 B+ with the latest Volumio (v 2.555, 2/18/2019) and get NO sounds out of it. Jumper ON (plugged into either RPi OR Boss) and Jumper OFF, separate 5V 2.4a power supplies. Same result all three ways -- no sound. (I'm sure speakers & RCA cables are fine.) Is this a new board that isn't supported by Volumio yet? Please help!!!!
  4. Hi to all, I'm Andre with Volumio. I wanted to take the time to introduce myself and the PRIMO. As most of you know, Volumio is the leading media player software used by most audiophiles. Recently, the PRIMO , network music player and streamer , has been released. I am here to answer any questions and start a conversation about what you think of it and eventually even see if any of you would be interested in taking a closer look and share your opinions with the rest of the community. In a nutshell, the PRIMO is: not RPI based its actually Tinkerboard based with the software embedded, so no more SD cards and legendary connectivity issues of the RPI. no more DIY its a finished product in a proper box that takes its place amongst your system plug & play unbox, connect, power on, set up in less than 1 min and play. Volumio is well known for its intuitive user interface and experience. 3 in 1 outputs analog/digital/USB and plenty other features that you can check out here https://volumio.org/primo/ have a look and let me know if you have any questions or comments about it, I'm here to assit with this or any other Volumio related question. Regards Andre
  5. Hi which one is better and why for spdif usage? https://volumio.org/product/volumio-primo/ or https://www.allo.com/sparky/digione-signature-player.html + shanti Thanks
  6. I'm looking at replacing my Mac Mini running JRiver & Raspberry Pi2 running Volumio2 with a dedicated music streamer. I've been looking at the SOtM SMS-100 , Aries Mini and the MicroRendu. The SMS-100 looks like it fits the bill, but the others have my interest as they are newer and possibly support more features, etc. The competitors look nice, but they are quite a bit more money compared to what I can buy a SMS-100 for currently. 99.99% of my music <24/192kHz so DSD isn't a high priority for me. I currently subscribe to Spotify, but I may be interested in the future to try other services. From what I've read here and elsewhere some are in the Mac Mini/CAPS camp and the other half are in the dedicated music server/streamer camp. Do I gain anything over my current players, ie. raspberry pi2 or Mac Mini running JRiver by going with one of the newer streamers?
  7. Hi Folks, I'm using a DigiOne Player from Allo with Volumio 2.x, and I'm wondering how you manage the power options ? After your listening, what are you doing ? shutdown the player ? if yes how you restart the player ? Suspend or other options .. By the way, after few tests I'm very happy with quality of this player. Thanks in advance.
  8. Volumio Version: 2.853 Hardware: Allo USBridge Signature Player DAC: Topping E30 I just got Allo USBridge Signature Player running the latest version of Volumio. Connected my Topping E30 DAC to USBridge Player on the ‘Clean USB’ port. While setting up the Volumio OS, the Output Device drop down menu only offers HDMI Out and Headphones. There’s no option to choose a USB Device. Topping E30 when connected to my iMac is instantly recognised by the macOS. So the DAC is working properly for sure. I’ve checked all the connections and they’re fine. Reinstalled Volumio twice. Even tried with Moode OS. But the same issue. No USB device listed in the drop down for Output Device. Spent entire afternoon trying to get Volumio recognise the DAC. Please help me solve this problem. Thank you!

    Volumio

    With the demise of the promising Tsunamp project (Tsunamp - Embedded Hi-Fi music player), I started looking around for alternatives. . . has anyone tried Volumio yet? Volumio Thank You, Gabriel
  10. Would be interested in learning if others have had similar impressions or not. I've been playing in the computer audio game for a few years, owned 3 Dacs going back to a Valab as the first, and have been using a CAPS Lagoon, with my humble Rega BrioR and RS5 speakers. Out of curiosity I bought a Raspberry Pi2 and have it running USB out to Dac using Volumio software, Flac files are all on a NAS. The sound quality to my ears sounds incredibly good. I've run it both as the standalone PC, and also as UPnP renderer with files being fed from a laptop running JRiver. Sounds identical either way to me, both extremely good. Anyone else have similar findings with a Pi 2, or could my ears just be playing tricks on me?
  11. Hi, I have the same just purchased from Allo: Allo Digione + Raspberry Pi 4 + Volumio 2.713 + Schiit Modi 3 (SPDIF output). The Schitt Modi RCA outputs go to my Sonos Amp, but have tested with another Amp, and get same behaviour. When playing Web Radio on Volumio, with the settings used by the poster above, the sound comes out of my speakers. When I use Airplay from another App on my iOS phone (Amazon Music HD), I see Volumio as speaker for Airplay, but no sound comes out, even if I change volume. Do I have to change some other settings? Thanks!
  12. Transport: Allo USBridge DAC: Schiit Yggdrasil OS: Volumio (newest available at the time of writing) Source file: Tidal playing via Volumio's native integration Every once in a while a dropout occurs. Music either stops completely (it shows as playing in Volumio GUI but there's only silence or there are a second long pauses). Issue occurs at random however I've noticed that on some tracks it occurs 100% of the time. Example track: link. Issue did not occur on RaspberryPi (also running Volumio) which is why I'm reporting it here. I'm okay with linux/ssh so if you need me to collect any logs just tell me where to look (there were no obvious errors in journalctl) Feb 01 19:15:11 volumio sudo[1947]: volumio : TTY=unknown ; PWD=/ ; USER=root ; COMMAND=/sbin/ifconfig eth0 Feb 01 19:15:11 volumio sudo[1947]: pam_unix(sudo:session): session opened for user root by (uid=0) Feb 01 19:15:11 volumio sudo[1947]: pam_unix(sudo:session): session closed for user root Feb 01 19:15:11 volumio sudo[1949]: volumio : TTY=unknown ; PWD=/ ; USER=root ; COMMAND=/sbin/ifconfig wlan0 Feb 01 19:15:11 volumio sudo[1949]: pam_unix(sudo:session): session opened for user root by (uid=0) Feb 01 19:15:11 volumio sudo[1949]: pam_unix(sudo:session): session closed for user root Feb 01 19:15:12 volumio volumio[743]: info: CoreCommandRouter::volumioGetBrowseSources Feb 01 19:15:12 volumio volumio[743]: info: CoreCommandRouter::volumioGetState Feb 01 19:15:12 volumio volumio[743]: info: CoreStateMachine::getState Feb 01 19:15:12 volumio volumio[743]: info: CoreCommandRouter::executeOnPlugin: appearance , getUiSettings Feb 01 19:15:12 volumio sudo[1957]: volumio : TTY=unknown ; PWD=/ ; USER=root ; COMMAND=/sbin/ifconfig wlan0 Feb 01 19:15:12 volumio sudo[1957]: pam_unix(sudo:session): session opened for user root by (uid=0) Feb 01 19:15:12 volumio sudo[1957]: pam_unix(sudo:session): session closed for user root Feb 01 19:15:12 volumio volumio[743]: info: CoreCommandRouter::executeOnPlugin: wizard , getShowWizard Feb 01 19:15:12 volumio volumio[743]: info: CoreCommandRouter::executeOnPlugin: system , getShowWizard Feb 01 19:15:12 volumio volumio[743]: info: CoreCommandRouter::executeOnPlugin: multiroom , getMultiroom Feb 01 19:15:12 volumio sudo[1964]: volumio : TTY=unknown ; PWD=/ ; USER=root ; COMMAND=/sbin/ifconfig wlan0 Feb 01 19:15:12 volumio sudo[1964]: pam_unix(sudo:session): session opened for user root by (uid=0) Feb 01 19:15:12 volumio volumio[743]: info: Listing playlists Feb 01 19:15:12 volumio sudo[1964]: pam_unix(sudo:session): session closed for user root Feb 01 19:15:13 volumio volumio[743]: info: CoreCommandRouter::volumioGetQueue Feb 01 19:15:13 volumio volumio[743]: info: CoreStateMachine::getQueue Feb 01 19:15:13 volumio volumio[743]: info: CorePlayQueue::getQueue Feb 01 19:15:14 volumio volumio[743]: info: No input data Feb 01 19:15:14 volumio volumio[743]: info: No input data Feb 01 19:15:15 volumio volumio[743]: info: CoreCommandRouter::executeOnPlugin: streaming_services , handleBrowseUri Feb 01 19:15:21 volumio volumio[743]: info: CoreCommandRouter::executeOnPlugin: streaming_services , handleBrowseUri Feb 01 19:15:22 volumio volumio[743]: info: CoreCommandRouter::executeOnPlugin: streaming_services , handleBrowseUri Feb 01 19:15:22 volumio volumio[743]: info: CoreCommandRouter::executeOnPlugin: streaming_services , handleBrowseUri Feb 01 19:15:28 volumio volumio[743]: info: CoreCommandRouter::executeOnPlugin: streaming_services , handleBrowseUri Feb 01 19:15:32 volumio volumio[743]: info: CoreCommandRouter::volumioAddQueueItems Feb 01 19:15:32 volumio volumio[743]: info: CoreStateMachine::addQueueItems Feb 01 19:15:32 volumio volumio[743]: info: CorePlayQueue::addQueueItems Feb 01 19:15:32 volumio volumio[743]: info: Adding Item to queue: tidal://song/100794834 Feb 01 19:15:32 volumio volumio[743]: info: Exploding uri tidal://song/100794834 in service streaming_services Feb 01 19:15:32 volumio volumio[743]: info: CorePlayQueue::saveQueue Feb 01 19:15:32 volumio volumio[743]: info: CoreCommandRouter::volumioPushQueue Feb 01 19:15:32 volumio volumio[743]: info: CoreStateMachine::updateTrackBlock Feb 01 19:15:32 volumio volumio[743]: info: CorePlayQueue::getTrackBlock Feb 01 19:15:32 volumio volumio[743]: info: CoreCommandRouter::volumioPlay Feb 01 19:15:32 volumio volumio[743]: UNSET VOLATILE Feb 01 19:15:32 volumio volumio[743]: info: CoreStateMachine::play index 6 Feb 01 19:15:32 volumio volumio[743]: info: CoreStateMachine::setConsumeUpdateService undefined Feb 01 19:15:32 volumio volumio[743]: info: CoreStateMachine::stop Feb 01 19:15:32 volumio volumio[743]: info: CoreStateMachine::setConsumeUpdateService undefined Feb 01 19:15:32 volumio volumio[743]: UNSET VOLATILE Feb 01 19:15:32 volumio volumio[743]: info: CoreStateMachine::play index undefined Feb 01 19:15:32 volumio volumio[743]: info: CoreStateMachine::setConsumeUpdateService undefined Feb 01 19:15:32 volumio volumio[743]: info: CorePlayQueue::getTrack 6 Feb 01 19:15:32 volumio volumio[743]: info: CoreStateMachine::startPlaybackTimer Feb 01 19:15:32 volumio volumio[743]: info: CorePlayQueue::getTrack 6 Feb 01 19:15:32 volumio volumio[743]: info: [1549048532974] streamingServices::clearAddPlayTrack Feb 01 19:15:33 volumio volumio[743]: info: ControllerMpd::sendMpdCommand stop Feb 01 19:15:33 volumio volumio[743]: info: sending command...   13. I just purchased a new Allo Digione and installed the latest Volumio on my Raspberry Pi 4. Under playback options I only can choose None or Software for volume control. How do I get hardware volume control working? I use volume control in my system via Volumio and want the highest possible sound quality. My previous XMOS XU208 USB to SPDIF converter worked fine with Volumio and hardware mixer.
  14. I have being using USBridge for a (+/-) month. USBridge is streaming music from a Synology NAS (1817+), through "Volumio" to a dCS Debussy DAC. After a while USBridge is losing connection to the network. If source of music is directly connected (usb) to the sparky, the playlist is run to its end. If source is the Synology music stops playing. The only solution is to reboot the system through the command line but it again for a very short lifecycle. Any idea for a possible solution?
  15. Oops... I posted the following messages in the general DAC forum, not the Allo-specific one and was kindly directed here. So I'll just copy them here -- hopefully someone can help me! ----- posted 3/8, around 10pEST --- The Allo Boss I received today was described as the latest 1.2 version and the card clearly says "HW REV 1.5" as you can see in the picture I've attached. I've plugged it onto my Raspberry Pi 3 B+ with the latest Volumio (v 2.555, 2/18/2019) and get NO sounds out of it. I've tried Jumper ON (plugged into either RPi OR Boss) and Jumper OFF (separate 5V 2.4a power supplies). Same result all three ways -- no sound. (I'm sure speakers & RCA cables are fine.) Is this a new board that isn't supported by Volumio yet? Please help!!!!
  16. Dear support, My Katana is producing no sound anymore, All indicator lights act as if everything is OK. There were no changes made to the setup. Volumio was updated to the latest version a couple of weeks ago. I use a power setup with 3 psu,s. The on board +/-15v generator switch is ON. The blue B1715 capacitor on top of the microcontroller is warm. The PCB underneath the printed word "Controller" is getting real hot. The power measurement are off compared to https://github.com/sparkysbc/sparky_linux_images/blob/master/katana-Controller-V measure-points.pdf Any idea how to fix this? Details, pictures, etc on request
  17. I have a DigiOne player with Volumio. I've had it for about 2 weeks. It is connected to my router with an ethernet cable. I am using Audirvana+ for Windows to send audio to it. I shutdown my laptop every evening. The past 2 mornings, the player has disappeared from Audirvana's option for output. I had to reboot the DigiOne player (once yesterday, multiple times today) in order to get it to reappear. I still can't reach the Volumio interface through volumio.local (this worked when I first connected it to my network). Why does it keep disappearing? I love the player, but this will get old fast if I have to keep rebooting it.
  18. Has anybody else have the same configuration that works on WiFi? Running either Dietpi with squeezeplay or Volumio yields same result. WiFi works fine without Allo Boss card. With Allo Boss DAC on top WiFi no longer connects UNLESS I have Ethernet also plugged in and connected. This is the weird part, with Boss I can ssh via Ethernet. I can also ssh Pi from WiFi IP. Remove Ethernet cable and WiFi stops leaving Pi unreachable. After days of trying everything it became apparent this is hardware related. Today I removed the power jumper from the Boss board and used 2 power supplies, one for Pi, one for Boss. WiFi will then connect only if I power up Pi first. If I power up at the same time or power Boss first then no WiFi. When I do get WiFi the OS turns off audio and squeezeplay wont run because it wont load the Boss drivers presumably. Manually forcing the OS in Dietpi to use the Boss kills WiFi again. Infuriating how much time I have wasted with this straight out the box. Squeezeplay works fine with no Boss card and Pi onboard audio. This is with a fresh image of Dietpi which I have also reflashed several times to start form scratch. Also could there be some conflict in resources between WiFi and Boss driver? Have I got a faulty Boss board? Has anyone else out there got this setup that works? BTW, I am also using Allo relay attenuator, which has been removed until the Boss works. Also using standard Allo 5v 3A power supply. Have tried another known good power supply.
  19. Hi I am wondering if Diet Pi (or Volumio) will work installed on an Allo USBridge in my current system. I understand Diet Pi is preferred to Volumio from other posts although Volumio looks like it's easier to install. My music library is stored on files on USB drives attached to a 32 bit MacBook running Mac OS X 10.6.8 and on a 32 bit Windows VIsta PC. These are all on my LAN. I have an older version of LMS installed on the Mac because I used to have a Squeezebox Touch. I cannot install or run the latest versions of LMS or Minim Server because they will not work on either of my Mac or PC OSes (I know, I need to upgrade my computers). I am using an Auralic Aries which runs on Lightning Server which doesn't need installation on the above computers to work. So if I install Diet Pi on an Allo USBridge, what else do I need? Do I need a server and/or player software? If so, what are the system requirements? Will the software work on 32 bit computers? Thanks

  22. @allo.com I have been looking all over for some help with this so really appreciate any guidance I can get; I have a NEW Allo Sparky USB Bridge running latest version Volumio. WiFi adapter, HDMI display, USB keyboard are connected and working. Ran initial setup with no issues logged in via keyboard then by browser/tablet to Volumio web page. All good except that I could not mount my Network Share no matter what pathname I tried (had a good IP address etc. Any help with that will be welcome too! ) Shutdown Volumio/Sparky using button in Volumio GUI. Disconnected and reconnected power to move everything. Logged into ssh using volumio/volumio - gpt to splash page all ok. "Volumio" showing up in router IP table as connected over WiFi (I have both WiFi and ethernet cable connected.) Tried to browse to Volumio/local and to IP address in router table for Volumio - nothing. Cannot recover web interface. Restarted by turning off power. Same result. Ran subo reboot but no change. Searched forums - no luck finding anything. Please help
