DanRubin posted a topic in Buy & Sell Audio and Computer ComponentsPear Audio Blue turntables, which have been extensively reviewed in Stereophile and elsewhere, are based on the engineering and design thinking of the late Tom Fletcher of Nottingham Audio. The Pear designs reflect Fletcher’s "final" ideas for improving on what he did with Nottingham as he handed the torch to Pear Audio. Like Nottingham tables, the Pear uses a low-torque motor; you start the platter spinning with a small push and brake it to a stop with your hand. Quite cool! The Robin Hood (list $1,995) is their least expensive table, but it is a superb performer. Mine is fitted with their Cornet 2 arm ($2,195), Pear’s most expensive tonearm. I am the original owner. The system has had limited use in the three years I have had it but has performed superbly. The shipping boxes are in so-so shape, but otherwise everything is excellent. The photos show an Ortofon Quintet Black MC cartridge ($995), which is not for sale, but if you really want it, we can discuss. The turntable and arm combo cost $4,190. I am motivated to sell, so I will consider reasonable offers. Shipping costs and PayPal fees are negotiable. US sale only, local sale (SF Bay Area) ideal. Thanks for looking. Dan
Here's what I currently have: A pair of wireless Audioengine A5+ powered speakers with an Airport Express that I stream my iTunes library to from my MacBook Pro via Airfoil, which also lets me play to my old Yamaha stereo system with two wired speakers through our Sony TV/Apple TV at the same time - giving me four speakers in our main living space. We also have a Denon turntable hooked up to the stereo. It, and the TV/BlueRay/Apple TV play through the stereo to the two wired speakers only. Here's what I want: The stereo is old and I'd like to replace it with a new amp and a decent pair of speakers - something as good as the A5+s. I want to be able to play everything through all four speakers - iTunes/Spotify and anything else on my Mac, as well as the turntable and TV/Apple TV. What do I buy? A new amp (suggestions for amps under $600) with a bluetooth adapter (suggestions?) to send to the A5+s, and a new set of passive speakers (maybe the Audioengine P4s?). Or do I even need an amp? Can I buy another set of A5+s and is there some kind of hub that will take all the inputs and then output to the wireless speakers, which have built-in amps? Does such a thing exist? I'm also considering setting up an older MacBook Pro as a music server, and it could be physically or wirelessly attached to any/all of the above. Also, should I add in a DAC for better sound? Thanks for your help.

For the first time after the arrival of Compact Disc and the assumed demise of vinyl records, an analogue product re-emerged in the “mass market” – something all music lovers could afford. The new DEBUT Carbon DC has been designed to set new standards in this category for the coming decade – perfectly timed as analogue today is again a respected source, while the demand for good turntables is growing again! The most obvious improvement is the inclusion of a CARBON TUBE for the tonearm, which increases stiffness and decreases unwanted resonance. This material normally is extensively used in high-end tonearms, but – because of cost reasons – was never used in products at lower price levels. Together with other improvements like an increase in platter size and weight to realize even smoother rotation, the overall sound quality is greatly improved. The approved belt drive design offers low noise AC motor with effective motor decoupling (utilizing TPE-damping) and ultra precision frequency DC-driven AC generator (like Speed Box) for ultimate speed stability without unwanted vibration.
