  1. If I use good quality equipment, like a good dac, a good amp and speakers (with good measurements) and a good acoustic treatment, do I really need a power conditioner or power regenerator? will I get sonic benefits? Don't good devices already have great filtering for noise or pollution that degrades the sound? Basically I don't know if I plug everything straight into the socket or use some ''filter''. I think this question is valid and I think that many have it too, since spending money testing each product is not at all viable for me. I've been researching recently about power conditioner, power filter and etc, I always think about not very expensive solutions to improve the quality of my setup or at least have stable power without much noise. When reading in other forums and reading reviews, it seems encouraging, but it is very relative and depends on the setup of each one. I see that the question is not as simple as saying whether ''need'' (or not) from the moment you identify ''a problem'' as noise, hum or audible ground loop in the sound, often the noise may not be very noticeable and we think everything is ok (with degraded sound quality), until we test a product like that. Everything gets more confusing when we see that it's not enough just to buy a suitable power conditioner and ok, certain products alter the sound and can compress soundstage, bass or harm the treble, because the power is cut a little, the solution for this they say it's the ones' 'power regenerators'', but which are too expensive.
  2. Howdy y'all, I built an audio PC (see specs here) and am using HDPLEX's 200W linear power supply. This is plugged into a Furman PST-8D power conditioner. Question is this: would it be particularly unwise to place an Alexa "Smart Plug" in the middle, for some fun n funky home automation commands with Alexa? Proposed setup is as such: LPS > Smart Plug > PST-8D > (wall outlet) I've invested in this LPS and power conditioner—and all the other components in the PC including a JCAT USB card FEMTO—to optimize for audio quality. Would I be shooting myself in the foot by introducing something like this just for ease of use w/ voice commands? My gut says don't put a $10 piece of tech in between two several hundred dollar pieces of tech, which is why I'm posting this. But this may have no effect at all, which would be nice. Thanks in advance for your help 🙏🏻
  3. hi, I'd like to know if you believe power conditioners (eg PS Audio P5) are adding a significant bump in SQ or rather a marginal one and there are more important elements to address first. I've read mixed opinions on the topic - a few people believe it all starts there but I seem to sense that the consensus is rather that this is the last step in the chain to take care of? I'd welcome your input as to what your experience on this topic. Thanks
  4. Let no noise go unsilenced If you think of mains power as the ‘gasoline’ fuelling your audio system, the AC iPurifier is the product that ensures that it’s getting a clean, super premium blend to deliver the best possible audio fidelity. The AC iPurifier is the latest in iFi audio’s stable of ‘power products’ designed to clean-up noisy mains supplies to audio systems. But this is no ordinary mains purifier. Technologically advanced, it’s Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) circuitry can eliminate far more noise across the frequency range than other passive devices. At -40dB, the difference is as distinct as night and day. The following diagram depicts the placement of three AC iPurifiers in one system. Insert AC iPurifier (1) into the shared mains wall outlet. Place AC iPurifier (2) at the first entry point. A third AC iPurifier (3) is best located in-between the two types of power supplies. We recommend that all linear power supplies are located after the AC iPurifier (2) but before AC iPurifier (3). Then all SMPS power supplies are located after AC iPurifier (3). Also, the digital and analogue power sources should be in their respective groups as shown in the diagram. Specifications: Noise Reduction: >40dB (> 100x) Surge Protection: max. 30,000A @ 1,000V/10uS Operating Voltage: 90V – 265V Size/Weight: (USA) 40mm x 105mm (L) 108 (g) / 0.24 (lbs) (EU) 40mm x 115mm (L) 126 (g) / 0.28 (lbs) The retail price of the AC iPurifier is US$99 (ex-tax) or €109 /£99 (incl. tax). Next in line are AC iPurifier technical notes, hence stay tuned!
  5. I have a question for all of you wizards out there. (I didn't see a more appropriate area of the forum for A/C power discussion, so I am posting here.) I have suspicion that voltage drops / brownouts have caused some havoc on our home-automation control system (Crestron). I am currently researching power conditioners, regenerators, UPS, etc. Even within the confusing, subjective world of audio, this area seems like a particularly dark black hole. Question: Does anyone know of a device or tool which can be used to monitor a home’s electrical system? I am envisioning a connected device that can be plugged into an A/C outlet and it measures/monitors/logs spikes, surges, dips, noise on the home's wiring. Real time monitoring would be OK, but the real value would be to see the results over a period of time (a week or so). Any help appreciated. Thanks, Bart

  7. View Classified Sound Application TT-7. Power Conditioner, US 120V Sound Application TT-7. US 120V, 6 outlets. Original owner, 1.5 yrs old. Comes with original packaging. If you are looking for a Sound Application power conditioner, you likely already know this is the best passive conditioning there is, period. This is Jim Weil's Engineering masterpiece. Every component I plug into the TT7 sound like they were instantly upgraded, reduced noise floor and lighting quick transients, better and controlled low end. When I moved to SA conditioners a few years back, I never looked back. This is not the XE-12, RLS JCR or CF-X, the TT7 is the latest generation of SA power conditioners and you would rarely see them up for sale. I am selling this as this is my second TT7 so I am still keeping one and letting go of this to pursue other ventures. Price is negotiable, but only reasonable offers will be entertained. Will ship free. US only. Seller KMan Date 01/16/21 Price 13,500.00 USD Category Power Supplies / Power Products
  8. View Classified Running Springs Audio Elgar Power Conditioner and Voodoo Ultra Wave Powercord I purchased the Running Springs Elgar power conditioner ($1100 list) and the 4ft. Voodoo Audio UltraWave cable ($325 list), new from The Cable Co in July 2014 after comparing it with comparably priced power conditioners. It has provided admirable service for 6 years, but I am now upgrading to a conditioner costing 3 times as much. The unit is in excellent condition, but I am listing it as an 8 because of age and some small scratches above one of the outlets. Like all RSA power conditioners, the Elgar was "designed with proprietary precision capacitance technology to provide managed differential power distribution." Its principal design goals were: "To significantly eliminate transient harmonics inherent in the vast majority of electrical topographies ...." "To fully manage power distribution eliminating spikes, drops and irregular voltage velocities" "To provide safety measures to insure against component=threatening blackouts, brownouts and general power dysfunction." These design goals are achieved through a 100% passive, non current limiting design. -rated at 1800watts @15 amps The Voodoo Ultra Wave was a very well regarded and well reviewed powercord at a reasonable price. Jay Luong on Audio Bacon called it "an extremely great value considering the costs of the cables....the Voodoo is a no-brainer. It really is a low-cost upgrade to the stock that will yield fantastic results." I have the original boxes, manual, stock power cord, and 3 carbon fiber footers. In every cable that transports an alternating current a magnetic field is created. The fields are strongest where the cables are plugged in and where there are any subsequent connections. Using AC Wraps offers a calm stability to the sound, even with cheaper Power cords and cables. If you are already using more expensive cable's, we are delighted to say that no matter the brand it will work better with an AC Wrap. They do however have other interesting applications!
