  2. Any recommendations for the best sub $300 DAC? I'm looking for something that must have both USB and optical so that I can use it either straight out of a computer (Mac) or through the optical output of an Apple TV (3rd get) or Airport Express. I'm looking for something detailed, full, but non fatiguing. Perhaps something too much to ask for in a sub $300 DAC? I have an original Schiit Modi, which I find a bit too sharp on the high end and mine is optical out only. The Peachtree DACItx seems to be a decent option at $300, but was curious if there is anything that competes with it at that price point or even lower? I'm playing primarily Redbook, and sometimes even lower (Pandora, Mixcloud, etc...) so I'd like it to be somewhat forgiving too. I don't have, nor foresee purchasing much HD audio. Is up sampling something worthwhile to look for in a DAC, or just keep it at Redbook?

  5. Hello All! I stumbled across this extremely helpful forum as I starting exploring how to put together a new stereo system for my home. I've been able to find a lot of answers by exploring though the posts here, but Id love to get some feedback about the system I'm putting together. If you don't count the 2.1 bose setup I purchased 13 years ago, this will be my first system. Here's the situation: I've got a budget of up to $4,000. I listen to mostly digital files, and recently started upgrading my library of 500 or so albums to all FLAC. I'd like to be able to wirelessly control the music system from either my MBP (OSX 10.10) or an ipad. I listen to a lot of types of music, but chief among them are classical, jazz and electronic. Space is very limited in my living situation, and I need to buy components that are as small as possible (especially the speakers). There's a good chance I'll be moving from the US to Spain in a few years, so I'd like the system to be reasonably transportable. Here's what I'm thinking of buying: iPad → Roon with Tidal Hi-Fi → Auralic Aries mini w/ 1TB SSD → Peachtree Nova 125SE → Anthony Gallo A’Diva SE 2.1 with TR-1D sub. This comes to arox. $4k. I realize that both the Peachtree Nova and Aries mini have DACs, but I suppose I'll just try each one and see which sounds better. Alternatively, I've considered using the Decware Zen SE84UFO with Blumenstein Orca Deluxe 2.1. My concern is that the speakers are still fairly large compared to the A'Diva's, so I'd only change if the sound quality is markedly better. Thoughts? Better devices to pair? Better values to be had? Anyway around it this will be a huge upgrade and I'm excited for the change. Thanks for the input!

  7. So I jumped into computer audio but I have some questions that some of you might be able to answer...? I currently have an iMac (2012) with a Peachtree DACIT. The computer is in my family room while my Audio Gear is in my living room. Running a cable from the computer to DACIT would be around 25'. I believe that's too long for USB...? So I learned that my iMac has a dual audio output. Meaning if I put in a mini toslink adapter in my 1/8" audio jack I can run an optical cable to my DAC. Would this be a good idea or bad idea? Seems to easy...? I want the best sound possible! Any advice you can give I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
  8. My INova's front panel get dirty. I clean it with medical Alcol. Unfortunately, all the buttons get stuck on the holes. I tried to open the outer case to solve the problem but I can't open it. I have searched on the internet as well and I have no way until now. Any member please show me how to remove the INova outer case and solve my problem. Thanks Son Nguyen.
  9. Hi Guys, although I’ve been into home audio for many years, I’m brand new to the computer aspect of it. I just bought a Peachtree Nova 125SE integrated amp and I have a few questions. I’ve ripped some of my CDs to my Macbook Air in lossless format and I’m playing them through the asynchronous USB input of the Peachtree, and have downloaded Amarra HiFi to my Mac. To me, this setup works great and my CDs have never sounded better. I’m now considering buying an 11” Macbook Air to act solely as a music server because my current Macbook Air doesn’t have enough free space to house all of my CDs. I’d be using this new computer on battery power when I’m listening to music. Would the amount of RAM critical to this setup? Another thing I’ve been wondering about is whether I should use the error correction feature in iTunes when I rip my remaining CDs to the computer. I know it takes longer to rip the music when the error correction is on, but if it improves the sound, it would be worth it to me. Thanks for any help guys can give me because this computer audio stuff has me baffled. Steve
  10. My cheap iphone dock in my kitchen died today I have been saving for a new main audio system based around Peachtree pre and amp and a good pair of speakers. I also want to play music in other rooms (hence the cheap dock). Since my dock just died, I need to replace that immediately before I purchase the more expensive equipment I've been reading forums left and right, but am still confused to how this technology works. If I buy a Sonos system, will I be able to integrate that into a Peachtree system later? Will I be able to control all music from the Sonos and Peachtree at the same time? That's what I'd really like to be able to do. Is that what you'd recommend? Should I spend the money on the Sonos now in anticipation of the Peachtree based system because they'll work so well together? Or should I buy a cheap dock and just keep saving? Is Sonos the right product for my needs or is there some other system that could interact with my computer and Peachtree? I appreciate your help.
  11. This nice little two-channel digital music system only needs speakers and you are ready to rock and roll! The complete system I am selling is the NovaPre and the Nova 220 amplifier. The system is in new condition without a scratch. It sounds fantastic! The only reason I'm selling is because my new apartment doesn't appreciate how loud it gets! Preference given to those who reside near the Minneapolis market because I'd rather not bother with shipping. I purchased this system locally for $1750 four years ago from Stereoland in Bloomington. It's a gloss black finish pictured like in this product pitch page:https://www.crutchfield.com/S-cKStOS56q9d/p_731NOPRECH/Peachtree-novaPre-Cherry.html
