  3. Oppo UDP-205

It's here: http://oppodigital.com/blu-ray-udp-205/blu-ray-udp-205-Overview.aspx I was sincerely hoping for multichannel pcm/dsd input via asynchronous usb (giving us an affordable alternative to exaSound), but alas. Is the asynchronous HDMI Audio Jitter Reduction feature just a gimmick, or is there something really new here that could improve the audio from SACDs or USB stick over HDMI to my Denon 4310?

  5. Hello! I have a large collection of music on CD's that I would like to rip and store on my Synology 416 Play NAS, probably using Plex server? To rip the cd's onto the NAS, I was thinking of usinig my Oppo BDP-103 player, as it has ripping fuctionality, but would that be as good as dbPoweramp? Could I use the Oppo BDP-103's drive with dpPoweramp? My Bang&Olfsen system has a 3.5mm anolog input (no digital it's old) so I would need some kind of DAC to connect the NAS. The Oppo BDP-103 is in a diffrent room as the input, so using it as a server is not an option. I have 10TB of space to do this with, so I just want the best audio quality. Any ideas? I'm new to this whole scene, so I'm open to any other methods.

  7. Lumin vs Oppo

I have an Oppo BDP-105D but am looking at the Lumin D1. This unit is less than $2,000 when bought in HK. Anyone done a comparison of any Lumin against the Oppo for streaming both red book quality and/or DSD downloads? Best, Michael
  8. I have the Tidal app running on my macbook pro retina but can't figure out how to send it to my Oppo BDP 105. I have JRiver and use it to wirelessly send my music file to the Oppo so I am set up for wireless connection to my Oppo. Just don't know how to get mac to send to Oppo without JRiver. Sorry for the dumb question. This computer audio revolution sure is making me feel like an old man!
  9. Hi all, first message on this forum. Happy with my hifi equipment, now I want to push further for better headphone system - but maybe also pre-amp and DAC. Current setup: Computer (Mac or PC): ALAC lossless files USB cable: Wireworld Silver Starlight DAC: Cambridge Audio DacMagic XLR cables: Cairn XLR Integrated amp: Cairn 4808A (30W class A) Headphone: Sennheiser HD600 plugged on amp (Speakers: B&W 804) Now I'm looking seriously at Sennheiser HD700 and HD800. What I'm looking for is a more streamlined chain between computer and headphone first. For example there's that new Oppo HA-1: it's a DAC and a headphone amp. Wouldn't it be appropriate for me, or will I miss another element? Computer > HA-1 > HD700/HD800 Also, would the HA-1 DAC, despite being aimed at headphones, be a better DAC to be used with my speakers ? Computer > HA-1 > Cairn 4808A int amp > B&W 804 I'm really looking to good overall balance, thank you all for your advices.
  10. Upcoming OPPO gear

OPPO was "nice" enough to post a peek into what they are working on at the OPPO Digital Future Products page. I think they would like people to be aware of it as they apparently can't pull it in before the holiday season and hope some fan base to hold off of purchases from other vendors by posting the planned hardware. And that is my question. I may be considering exactly this new combo (DAC+AMP+HF) for the holiday season in up to the 2.5K range. What would be an (un)educated guess of this respectable community - has OPPO a chance to best current offerings and so the wait is warranted? Is it even worth considering OPPO's first offering in a new category for them - headphones - given I am not a collector, but rather have a set for a long time? Cheers!
