I'm at the end of my rope: I have ~3000 wav songs accumulated over the past 25 years with no metadata, and I've spent untold hours trying to set up a music player on my Windows computers (7 & 10) to listen to them. Sequentially in folders, and gaplessly; a simple folder/tree-based menu. I've installed a dozen reputed players and futzed with them for hours, but wind up with nothing to show but an ugly screen and an endless random string of totally unorganized songs - and that's a positive outcome. My only player for the past 10 years is through a media USB input on a Samsung DVD player, which structures my folders perfectly. It doesn't offer much flexibility (through my hi-fi only) and, drat, it isn't gapless. I'd be grateful for anyone who has knowledge of a music player solution, or where next to seek one. Or if I'm stuck with the Samsung player.

Any of you guys saw this? Any comments on this music player? - https://igg.me/at/air-tunes They claim its of audiophile quality. The specs and the details look promising. It's got a lot of audio effects as well (not sure how useful though). What do you guys think? I'm on the edge whether to get this or not.

ROON and MQA news updates for Lumin Universal Audiophile Network Players and Systems. ROON is now part of the upgrade to Lumin <8.0> for all products D1, A1, T1, S1, U1. (The only thing left to do will be the L1 media library as a upnp device!). Roon is working well on our end with LUMIN products natively (not going through airplay). To use: 1. Have a computer running Roon core 2. Computer and LUMIN are on the same network 3. Roon app installed on the iPad 4. LUMIN/Roon running firmware 8.00+ It should work fine if all these are "yes". MQA: MQA ON LUMIN AS OF FEB. 23, 2017 1x = 16/44.1 Via Airplay bit perfect. Also: MQA at 24bit 48kHz is active In development for firmware updates. (Dates TBD but should be done by Q2/Q3 2017). 2x = 24/88.2 or 24/96 4x = 24/176 or 24/192 8x = 24/352 or 24/384 2x (or maximum 4x) is all that is really required from a technical point of view. Universal Music Group has now signed on with MQA, and their labels include: *** ECM, Interscope, Geffen, A&M, Capitol, Island, Def Jam, Decca, Verve, Blue Note, Virgin, and EMI *** Re: MQA now on Tidal For those using Lumin app, there should now be a Masters category under Tidal. If you don't see it, please kill the app and retry. You can also ‘tag’ MQA but does not yet give you the full MQA resolution (it down samples it to 24bit/48kHz for now), which is still an improvement over 16bit/44.1kHz . Lumin has full MQA support in the works, so we should see that in the near future. Additionally, MQA also plays bit perfect via airplay at 16bit/44.1. Lumin app for iPad, iPhone and Android tablets available at: http://www.luminmusic.com/lumin‐app.html Click here to visit the full lineup of Lumin Music Players To start your free Roon trial click here Click here for the latest information on MQA

I often get asked how to setup our sonicTransporter with Roon Server and a microRendu or ultraRendu as a Roon Ready player. I made a quick youtube video on how to get this done. https://goo.gl/BHN1Jb

Hello, members of Computer Audiophile Forum! I’m the founder of International Classical Music Database, a non-profit organization exists to promote, educate, and archive classical music (don’t panic, the discussed topic is not limited to classical music). We are looking for some pilot users for a new online service. If you’re a music collector or audiophile with a Mac computer, I believe our new solution “Tonal” could bring you a better music experience: With Tonal, your complete digital collection is organized in one place and is ready to be streamed anytime, anywhere. That may sound unfancy, but there’re three foundational innovations which clearly differentiate the Tonal experience from the competition: A managed cloud-based music locker service with audio quality verification built-in. An innovative metadata solution which focuses on standard, quality, and community collaboration. A well-crafted playback engine which ensures highly predictable audiophile performance. Download initial version: http://binaries.ton.al/app/Tonal-20180315.zip Anyone interested please read the introduction article: https://medium.com/tonal-app/introducing-tonal-74c748f200b9 And three separate articles explaining its internals: Audio Pre-Processing Music Metadata Playback Engine This thread will be monitored. Feel free to ask me any question. Screenshots attached:

Lumin D1 Network Music Player FALL SPECIAL ($150 off Sbooster BOTW Power Supply with purchase of D1) During the development of LUMIN A1, our focus was to create the absolute best source at any price. No expense was spared in its production. With the LUMIN D1, their aim was to try and retain all that award-winning musicality while compromising as little as possible in every other area. Reducing the size of the casing and removing the HDMI output help reduce costs without losing music quality, and using an auto-ranging power supply offered the biggest savings for the least compromise. LUMIN D1 - THE SAME MUSICAL DELIVERY, FOR LESS Compact case Single circuit board design Retains XLR balanced outputs External 100–240V AC auto-ranging power supply Native support for Tidal HiFi streaming service UNIVERSAL Effortlessly plays everything from DSD through high-res PCM to mainstream formats FLAC, Apple Lossless, MP3 and Internet radio streams. SEAMLESS Gapless Playback, On-Device Playlists and robust music buffering provide a superior playback experience, free from distractions. NO COMPROMISE Even at this price point, the highest-grade matching components are selected, including true balanced audio outputs. INTUITIVE A superbly natural, attractive and uniquely designed iPad app makes music browsing and selection a pleasure for everyone. Get close to the performance of the Lumin T1 for a fraction of the price when you add the SBOOSTER BOTW Audiophile Power Supply The “Best of Two Worlds Power & Precision ECO” audio upgrade (BOTW P&P ECO) is the successor of SBooster's “Best of Two Worlds Solutions” audio upgrade (BOTWS). This new upgrade product combines power, precision and efficiency in a unique innovative manner. With the BOTW P&P ECO audio upgrade the purification of the current starts immediately there where the polluted current enters the upgrade. A dual stage mains filter and an earth line choke clean the current from high frequency pollution before the current reaches the transformer. The transformer is a custom-made audio grade transformer with electrostatic shielding. Hi all, I'm quite new to this field and I'm a bit confused by the large amount of products available on the market. I'm looking for a Media Renderer / music player to connect to my existing Technics SU-V500 amplifier (which has an AUX input taking L/R audio channels with RCA connectors). My requirements would be: - cheap solution (something < 200€ !) - it should be able to read music from an USB drive/key OR getting it from my LAN network (i.e., act as DLNA player I think), audio format supported should be MP3 / FLAC and possibly others (e.g. MPEG4 .m4a, etc) - it should have a nice interface, possibly an APP that I can install on my smartphone/tablet, that allows me to browse my music collection Can you help me suggesting some solution? So far I've seen Linn products but those are definitively out of my budget! Thanks a lot! Francesco
