Hello - I just recently found this site and I'm hoping someone has an idea to help me get my newly purchased (2nd hand) Metrum Octave II DAC up and running with my iMac. Currently, I'm getting a flashing blue light over the USB input when connected to my iMac (OS X Yosemite 10.10.5). The manual says that no USB signal is coming from the source if the light is blinking. However, the device does appear as M2Tech HiFace in my audio output device options. I have powered off both the iMac and Octave a few times hoping a reset would work, but so far it has not. I've read about some connectivity issues with Metrum USB inputs, and I'm hoping someone else has worked through this issue already. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I have sent an email to Metrum, but it's the weekend, and I would like to see if I can get this going before Monday. Thanks in advance! Michael
I have been using an Octave II for some time and find it a superbly natural DAC, especially when fed upsampled PCM. I currently use Audirvana+ to do that, upsampling to the highest even multiple that the DAC/software supports (44 to 176, 96 to 192, etc.). I feed the DAC with USB routed thru an IFi Power their Gemini cable. I don't have a lot of time to experiment and haven't fiddled with this setup in some time, so I'd like to seek some advice on possible ways to get even better SQ. Would I get better results: - Going to HQPlayer? - Using a USB->SPDIF converter? - Using other settings in A+? Please explain if so. Thanks.
Hey, I thought you would like to see my new DAC! So far (3 weeks), it's living up to its sterling reputation. So, I decided to dress it up. What do you think? I can share who did this fine work, and at a fair price. Richard
