  1. Hi everybodyI discovered that a DSD DAC for raspberry does exist: http://www.terratechnos.com/products/te ... index.htmlIt's not cheap, in fact 25000 yen + 3000 yen shipping from Japan, makes a total of about 220$ https://terra-online.stores.jp/ However, it seems an interesting object, with separate power for raspberry and dac Automatic upsample Works with Rune, Volumio, PiCore Player, Moode.. Instead, I'm not sure how to interpret this spec re master clock:Built-in small crystal oscillator excellent in phase noise characteristics as master clock (45.1584 MHz for 44.1 KHz, 49.152 MHz for 48 KHz) Automatic switching of master clock
  2. Hi, Could anyone help me with or give me pointer where to find info to connect the Amanero module (https://amanero.com) to the DAC board of my AN DAC 2.1x over I2S. I want to exploit the 18/bit192Khz capabilities of the AD1865, connecting my DAC 2.1x (Signature) via USB, bypassing the CS8412 receiver as this only goes to 96Khz. Thanks.
  3. Hi all, I've recently acquired a very nice vinyl setup and haven't been using my digital gear at all. I'm downsizing to a Hifi-Berry and am selling all my current digital gear. To start with, I am ONLY offering the AudioPC and HDPlex unit as a package deal (but very fairly priced, IMO). See below for specifics. Pic of each component in my room: HDPlex LPSU + HDPlex PC PSU + AudioPC price = $650 plus shipping. US customers only at this point please. Audio PC Specs CPU: Ivy i5 3570K Mainboard: Asrock Z77 Extreme4 RAM: 16 Gb DDR3 System SSD: 128G Music SSD: Samsung EVO 850 500Gb Sound card: Pink Faun RJ45 I2S (optional) Case: Silverstone GD09B PSU: HDPlex 250W DC-DC ATX Installed software: Server 2012R2, fully activated (will provide license key to buyer) Audiophile Optimizer JPlay JRiver MC20 RoonServer (will need to provide new account info) REW I do not intend to format the system drive. I will tape down the HSF (stock intel unit, it's quiet) and remove the HDPlex PSU for shipping, to be shipped in a separate box. The Pink Faun card is extra, and is really only useful for someone with an Aqua DAC. It could be re-pinned by Jord at PF to another maker’s i2S input though, for a reduced cost vs buying a whole new card. This is a $150 addition to the price of the PC + HDPlex combo ($500 retail) Administrator password changed to “administrator” No other accounts are active on the machine. HDPlex main unit is the 300W LPSU unit driving the 12V side of the PF card and the 19V input of the ATX 250W DC-DC supply in the PC. This setup is dead quiet, electrically and sonically and produces a very open, airy, and neutral sound. It pairs incredibly well with the DAC I'm selling (I would consider a combo deal for all of it to the same buyer). Aqua La Voce S2 DAC with factory XLR upgrade - $2150 shipped to anyone in the lower 48. International shipping available on this, but I will need to get a quote and work with the buyer on fair pricing. This is also listed on Audiogon under my handle "toddrhodes" if you'd like more detail on it. This is a lesser-known DAC but is absolutely worth consideration if you have the budget for it. It's sound is best characterized as "pure." It is faithful to the recording, it is an R2R/Ladder DAC, non-upsampling. It features 4 digital inputs: Galvanically isolated USB 3.0, AES/EBU, SPDIF via 75 ohm BNC and the proprietary Aqua I2S input (to match the sound card I have in my Audio PC). This is a very good digital frontend, make no mistake. My selling is merely a matter of having a current preference for vinyl and all that it entails. Personally, vinyl is a different sound which I prefer, but I would never call it "better" as that is different for all of us. Feel free to PM with any questions. Not taking offers at this point, I feel my prices are extremely fair given the condition and performance of these components. Thank you. Todd
  4. I2S Computer Build

I am doing preliminary planning for a dedicated audio computer to replace my modified laptop. My W4S DAC accepts I2S input. From postings here I2S sound quality is at least as good as USB and probably better. Pink Faun and maybe others make an I2S out board. So I am thinking of using I2S and maybe building in a good USB output to make direct comparisons. Anyone have experience using I2S out and into their DAC, comments on SQ, tech issues, etc. Thanks.
  5. Hi, I'm currently utilizing the USB input in a PC>DAC2 (non DSD/SE)>amp setup and with the recent resurgence of the DAC2 DSD and SE upgrade, I'm wondering if there are gains to be made in a few different upgrade options: I've read a few articles favoring the I2S input of the DAC2, so I'm debating between purchasing a USB converter that will utilize said I2S input (either Channel Islands Transient MKII, Audiobyte Hydra X, or others?), or upgrading to the DSD version. I have no interest in nor possess DSD files, but if the upgraded USB input would be equal to the addition of a USB/I2S converter, it would certainly make the decision easier. Does anyone have experience/sage advice in this regard or other recommendations? PS: I am aware of the Empirical Off-Ramp as having an I2S output, but seeing as it costs more than the DAC2, its hard for me to justify the cost. Also, I'm looking for an emotionally involving experience when listening to music, if that means "warm" or "tubey" than that is what I'm looking for. System: PC, Wyred DAC2, currently in-between amps and running a restored Sansui Model 8 Deluxe but considering a Decware TORII MKIII tube amp, and Philharmonic Audio 2 speakers. Thanks in advance for your help!
