Hi all. New poster here, and I’m hoping someone can troubleshoot a problem I’m having with a wifi extender. I recently purchased a Bluesound Node 2, which is fed by Ethernet from an Actiontec wifi extender (WCB6200Q). The extender is fed by a Fios coax cable (I have Fios wifi and cable). The Node 2 works great, except that occasionally it stops functioning when the extender seems to stop sending it a signal. I know it’s the extender and not the Node because the “coax” light on the extender, which is generally solid or flickering, completely goes off, and I stop getting a wifi signal from the extender as well. I’m pretty sure the Actiontec extender is not defective, because Verizon sent me an extra one by mistake, and I had the same problem when I switched it out. I’ve spent time on the phone with Verizon and they can’t figure it out. I will likely have a technician come by, but since it is usually working OK, I’m worried they won’t be able to diagnose the problem. It does happen less frequently than when first connected a few weeks ago, but is still a problem. My set-up is as follows: FIOS Quantum Router in a second floor bedroom, wired through coax (75 mbps); Music is stored on a WD My Cloud Ex2 Ultra NAS, connected to the router via Ethernet. The Actiontec extender was recently added by a Verizon technician in a first floor entertainment room that had poor wifi reception. Since the room already had a fios coax cable for the TV, the technician added a splitter to the cable, with one going to the STB (as before) and the other going to the extender. As I said the Node 2 is wired through Ethernet from the extender, and is hooked up to my NAD receiver with RCA cables. I have the Bluos App (much better than I expected!) on my iPad and iPhone, and when the problem occurs, I stop getting a wifi signal so Bluos stops working, and music stops playing. There is also an Ethernet cable from the extender to the TV for Netflix, which also stops working when the problem occurs. What is strange to me is that when the problem occurs, the cable tv continues to function. The extender power light and wifi lights still function, but the coax light is out, and there is no wifi or ethernet signal when that happens. I also switched the splitter since Verizon sent an extra, and that didn’t fix the issue. It also seems strange that when all is functioning well, the coax light tends to flicker (why wouldn’t it be solid?) but Verizon didn’t seem to have an answer for this. Any ideas would be much appreciated!
