  1. It has been mentioned by others that clock cables are becoming of increasing interest, but posts on the subject are being spread through a number of different threads, notably the Mutec REF10 thread, SOtM threads and the infamous "A novel way...." thread. So this is an attempt to to try to bring existing and future clock cable knowledge together, and with a bit of luck we should be able to identify some top performing clock cables that do not cost $1000's. To start this thread off, I would like to pick up on the issue raised by @zoltan on the "A novel way...." thread. Two things. For one, if you are in the EU, anything from outside the EU will cost 30-40% on top of the list price. In this case SOtM cables will be close to $1000 (I am almost sure that they will be sold around 800 euros) which makes them equally expensive as Habst. Shunyata is much more, needless to say. Second, I bought a tx-USB ultra the other day as the last piece of the puzzle. I opened it to change the voltage to 12V. I noticed that the clock cable that goes from the input connector (inside of the BNC) to the board is curled up. I measured it and it is 40cm. By looking at it, it looks like more industrial than something in the league of high-end clock cables. I wonder how much our effort (both keeping short lengths and high quality) matters in this case when the last 40cm is something like that. Then again, given that SOtM is as good as it is (both products and as a company), my only conclusion is that they don't think that this matters that much. But why do they sell the first 1m for $700? As you can see, I am a little confused here. OK, I have to say that I was a little disappointed when I saw this post. I have just purchased both a sMS-200Ultra and tX-USBultra and have spent some time and money buying custom made clock cables to optimise (minimise) clock cable length. I then find that I probably have half a metre of cheap clock cable curled up in the case of the SOtM kit. The addition of a reference clock connection is £200 when bought from the UK distributor for SOtM, or £400 in my case for the two units. So this is not a cheap addition. I guess my main frustration is that it seams to me that it would not take much additional effort to minimise the cable length from the connector to the board, oh well... So this leads to a number of questions. Firstly, does it really matter? If so, what is the best way to resolve. Could the units be sent back to SOtM for a more optimal solution? Could users modify themselves, or would this invalidate warranty? What would be the optimum solution anyway? Simply shorten the cable? Or maybe terminate the existing cable with a male connector, and use the cable to the board direct to the reference clock. It occurs to me that you could simply disconnect the female from the case, pull the cable to the outside of the case, and connect direct to the reference clock with a female to female adaptor. Is no (additional) cable better than a Habst cable? I did demob my tX-USBultra from the system and took a look through the case vents. Mine has the 75ohm connector, and it looks like the clock cable is a little different for the 75 ohm, it is copper coloured, but still appears to be over length. I must admit that I was not prepared to open the unit, it is brand new with full warranty, so if I inadvertently broke something, it would be bad. Some have mentioned that SOtM are fairly relaxed about users opening the kit, to adjust jumpers etc., but is this official policy, what about people shortening or replacing clock cables or whatever. Maybe @MayfromSOtM would be kind enough to provide some good advice here?
  2. TEAC will shortly release it's 4 output 10MHz Clock, confirmed to work with the UD-503 and NT-503. Details posted on PhileWeb. EAC will release the master clock generator "CG - 10M" which will transmit 10 MHz clock signal on October 28. Although it is an open price, actual sales at around 148,000 yen are expected. CG-10M External clock generator used in combination with USB-DAC, network player, CD player, etc. The company says "to maximize the performance of products that support all 10 MHz clock inputs." Product ( reference news ) which was exhibited at IFA was officially announced. The crystal oscillator which is the heart part adopts "TEAC Reference OCXO" (Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillator) that the oscillation stability with the thermostat is high. High accuracy specifications with frequency temperature characteristics within +/- 3 ppb and frequency accuracy within ± 0.1 ppm were realized. Also, the analog meter on the front panel always displays the oscillation stable state inside OCXO which can not be confirmed. So that the stable operation state of the OCXO can be confirmed. Four gold-plated BNC terminals are equipped as output terminals. In addition to completely eliminating the interference between the systems by a completely independent circuit configuration, stable load current can be supplied by mounting a large-capacity toroidal core power transformer. The legs are proprietary three-point support pinpoint foot which patent also got, "It is easy to positively pinpoint groundable". Moreover, aluminum which is resistant to radio wave noise is adopted as the front / top and side panels. In TEAC products, it is said to have been confirmed with "UD - 503" and "NT - 503". 3. Well, I have just connected my newly received Cybershaft Platinum clock. Added to the Mutec MC3+USB + SMS-200 ultra + Lush, this is quite unbelievable. This clock is worth 2-3 times its price when I compare to DACs, amps and powercords costs... Not saying these components are not worth their price (quite the contrary!) but really, I didn't know the rest of my system could sound like this... I don't have enough words to describe the complexity, control and realism that gets out of my speakers... I can just say that this translates into some kind of relaxed tranquility when I let the music play. No more underlying stress searching for something that is not really there.. This took a lot of reading of infinite forum threads... :-) That said, I really want to thank those who are taking time to explore new tweaks and components and take time to write about their findings. What I hear today is the result of this communities' work and exploration! Thank you all!
  4. There're 4 Clocks on board which confusing me a little bit. I don't know which one is a Main Oscillator Clock? (as Photo attached) Neep help... Please... Thanks
  5. I love the form factor of the microRendu, I play in office setup and its perfect to use behind the DAC (below/behind monitor) connected to the DAC with an UpTone A>B adapter, and power/ethernet connected in other end. However, its clock (oscillator) is not the best, it was designed before the accurate audio clocks where available (or very expensive). But nowadays, one of the best oscillator available is the Crystek CCHD-575 and it costs $12, and its pin-compatible with the old clock in the microRendu. So I decided to replace it, ordered a Crystek CCHD-575 24Mhz from mouser, here is the link: https://eu.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Crystek-Corporation/CCHD-575-25-24000?qs=W0yvOO0ixfGIP3iyv3ONBg== And since its temperature sensitive I also chased around town to get hold of some leaded tin (which in Europe is not allowed to be sold to private persons), because leaded tin has about 40 degrees lower melting temperature (around 180 Celsius). After some frustration, I got it working, but it was not easy. First of all, everything is very small on the microRendy PCB, and removing the old clock was hard (I ended up removing as much solder as possible and then used pliers + a little force 🙂 ). When soldering the new clock, I pre-tinned one pad and pressed down the clock while heating until it settled down, then soldered the 3 remaining connections normally but with very little solder, and a few minutes break between each soldering to let the clock cool down. But the result was better than I had anticipated, a completely new sound with more details, air and improved soundstage. So for anyone who feels a little daring, and are prepared that their microRendu might brick (which can easily happen), its a nice little tweak. Easily the best price/performance tweak I have made, but very risky. Btw, the 1.4 upgrade for microRendu, which isn't available anymore, is exactly what I described here: change clock to Crystek CCHD-575 I wonder if there are some voltage regulators in there that can be improved upon, or perhaps some caps 🙂
  6. Hi All I currently have an sotm front end, Network switch 10g, ultra 200 streamer, and tx USB. I have it connected to my Hegel H390 integrated Amp via USB. I was considering getting the sotm master clock forl the sotm boxes but then I though about maybe a new DAC like the Terminator plus or also the Denafrips GAIA D/D convertor ( im not sure what this does exactly ). Where do you think the best bang for buck would be and I should upgrade first. Also on a separate note is it possible to connect 2 network switches together say the 10g and ether regen for example to get double the impact, I think I read someplace of 2x sotm 10g switches connected yield really great results. Thanks Sean
  7. View Classified Pair of HFC 3D CT-2 S/PDIF cables (Schroeder config) I am selling a pair of Schroeder-configured High Fidelity Cables 3D CT-2 digital BNC cables, as @austinpop described in this post: https://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/30376-a-novel-way-to-massively-improve-the-sq-of-computer-audio-streaming/?do=findComment&comment=1058990 Except the 3D CT2 is an upgrade over CT-2 and need to be ordered on request from HFC and I have not applied JSSG360 shielding but I applied Furutech Nano contact fluid. The Shroeder method uses 2 physical interconnects in parallel, in conjunction with Y-connectors, for a logical interconnect. So each "cable" in this pair being offered for sale is actually 2 physical cables with Y-adapters on each end. Here is the price breakout of the components in the pair, along with MSRP: $6000+: 4x (2pair) 1.5m HFC 3D CT-2 S/PDIF cables, RCA-RCA. Note, 2 of these together are used per connection. $500: 4x 1BNC-2RCA adapters, sourced from Audio Sensibility These cables are the best I've heard between SRC-DX/Hugo Mscaler to DAVE or TT2 via DBNC. They would work equally well as word clock cables in other applications. A note of caution: these cables are heavy, so cable management is essential, especially to reduce the strain on the components' BNC connectors. But with that done, they will reward you with truly exceptional SQ. MSRP: $6500+ Asking: Name your price Includes free shipping and PP fees within continental US. If you wish not to get both the pairs, I can sell a single pair too. Seller KMan Date 01/13/22 Price 3,000.00 USD Category Cables

  9. View Classified MUTEC MC3+ USB If you're aware of the MUTEC MP3+ USB external clock and SPDIF converter, nothing more needs to be said. For those who aren't, it's a world class external clock that both improves the clock of your current DAC or clock dependent digital components (e.g., Etherregen) and enables you to improve/add digital SPDIF capabilities to your system. Considering the prices of external clocks, it's an amazing value at $1199 new. I'm selling a virtually new one for $875 shipped. It's about three months old and barely used, as the photos will attest. If you need more info, rave reviews are below. Including one from right here at Audiophilestyle. I'll pay for shipping.
