It's subjective, but I think it's interesting to report and bring up this problem that I can't find a solution to, when listening to music I've been feeling some kind of ''electric shocks'' and sudden vibrations in my body, in my shoulders, hands, feet, inside my leg, varying in intensity and always unpredictably, becoming a bit painful, it happens that at certain moments everything is great and I'm enjoying the songs and the sound quality, when suddenly in a few minutes I feel these irritating discomforts that really compromise the musical experience to the point that I want to turn everything off, I've already done tests by listening closely on my desktop where the speakers are, but I've also tried listening further away sitting or even standing up and I feel the same, just to make sure that it's not literally shocks caused by proximity to cables or wires, or any interference, as this has been happening does I've known for a long time that it's not something in my head, in my ears I don't feel anything significantly harsh or shrill, just a little and I think it's even bearable because I use an entry-level setup and I'm sensitive to trebles and high-mids and I'm already trying to minimize this using speakers, amp and neutral cables and even DAC filters to give a roll-off in high frequencies, being more perceptually specific harsh sound I even feel slightly at the same time no fatigue, as my speakers compensate a lot for this fatigue problem, but Even so, the bad ''shocks'' and ''vibrations'' are present and in the audio itself I don't hear any distortion or apparent noise. Researching this on various forums I didn't find anyone talking about this specifically, really no, the most I've heard about that is related to this is the phenomenon of hearing fatigue and irritation, bright and sharp sound, a situation that is even common among many people. from the audio community and I personally have been through a lot, today I use a cambridge sx-50 and an SMSL A300, RCA cable Blue Jeans and a Topping E30 via optical cable in a Wiim-mini (both plugged on Allo Shanti LPS). Could I be the problem or a weak link in the setup, would something be wrong with this synergy? would it be resonating in my ear without me feeling it at the time and also in my body, any resonance or noise or distortion in the sound? I'm very confused.

I'll be streaming over ethernet from a Win10/JRMC PC running 24/7 in another room. The amp & speakers aren't an issue. The controller will be an iPad Air. All that's needed are streamer & DAC. I've narrowed it down to one of the following: 1. Aries Mini > Wired4Sound Recovery > Emotiva DC-1 > (Amp/Speakers) or 2. Cambridge Audio CXN (streamer, dac, pre) > (Amp/Speakers) #2 is cleaner and, as an added bonus, it's $200 less. Any thoughts?

Though my Cambridge Audio 851N is specced to stream WAV PCM 16-24 bit 32-192kHz, problem occurs when playing back WAV 24 bit 192kHz; i.e. at beginning of track playback stumbles and stutters very shortly once - or twice. After that initial failing no more gaps further on. From NAS DS214play audio is streamed over Ethernet cable and Netgear JGS516 switch (16-Port 10/100/1000 Mbps Gigabit). LAN is not loaded apart from audio streaming. Problem does not occur with smaller files e.g. 24 bit 96kHz tracks is rendered without any hesitation. I have tested playback of same WAV 24 bit 192kHz files thru USB stick plugged in the 851N and they playback convincingly without stutter. I also did test rendering on other devices and the results are: a. Playback of identical WAV 24 bit 192kHz tracks from very same NAS DS214play through same LAN (id ethernet connected to same switch) on macbook early 2009 OS X 10.10.5 and UPnP media player VLC version 2.2.1 happens flawlessly without any stumble. b. Moreover, simultaneous replay - again id tracks from id NAS, through id switch and additionally router + wireless AP TL-ER604W from TP Link - on iPhone 5 with DS Audio UPnP app (from Synology), also very convincingly without hesitation - admittedly optimal location of iPhone 5 and no use at all on wifi other than subject streaming. DS214play is generously specced (see attached) and from testing it does not look like a NAS issue and points IMHO to an issue with the Cambridge Audio 851N streamer. What can be done to cure drop-out? Any experience, opinions, help, advice out there? Thanks in advance Eric DS214play - Products - Synology - Network Attached Storage (NAS).pdf

Since some time I have been using - and enjoying thoroughly - minimserver/streamer on Synology DS214play in conjunction with Cambridge Audio 851n. More recently I did discover the minimstreamer radio features. I then tried to route from minimstreamer radio to 851n, alas to no avail. I have tried several settings with several radio stations - all are well rendered when streaming is triggered directly by 851n - but have not yet managed to stream radio from minimstreamer (or other Synology packages) to 851n. I have attached copies of: - m3u files used for testing - logs from minimstreamer - screenshots of the minimserver system and package tabs radio from minimstreamer to 851N.zip From minimstreamer support forum i understood that: - 851n is trying to play the radio stream send by minimstreamer as if it were a disk file by reading portions of the stream instead of reading the stream continuously from start to end. - If radio streaming is triggered by 851n, 851n obviously knows it is dealing with a radio stream and presumably doesn't attempt to use byte-range requests. I thus concluded that 851n is engineered to manage incoming streams solely as byte-range requests - that is unless radio stream is triggered by 851n himself. Is this deduction correct? Are other people experiencing the same issue with 851n or other Cambridge Audio equipment? What is the experience in the community for streaming radio to 851n? Many thanks in advance for your support Eric PS I have asked Cambridge about one week ago for their support however no response yet and will keep posted here what results from the thread with Cambridge support
