  1. Begrudgingly selling a beloved personal amp from my private collection. The Liquid Carbon is a limited-edition, community-inspired, and carefully-crafted distillation of our Cavalli Audio house sound. There were three runs made, the final ones just have been distributed. Each run consisted of 500 units. The Liquid Carbon is a fully-discrete, fully-balanced, transportable solid-state headphone amplifier that is capable of driving all but the most demanding of headphones - delivering satisfying levels and offering superb driver control for exceptional detail and linearity. It’s fully-balanced as well, on both its inputs and outputs. In fact, whether your DAC has balanced output or not - and chances are that it doesn’t - the Liquid Carbon accounts for that with phase splitters on its single-ended inputs, so that it can “generate” balanced input signals. The Liquid Carbon also features adjustable gain (1X/3X), comprehensive input and output options, and ultra-low output impedance (~0.12 ohm balanced, ~0.08 ohm single-ended). All of the above combine to form something that is truly more than the sum of its parts… an affordable end game headphone amplifier. Includes: Liquid Carbon amp, Audioquest NRG-3 power cable (purchased separately for $100), and original box. $650. Buyer pays shipping and PP fees
  2. My upgraded Lampizator Level 4 Generation 4 DAC is for sale for 1990 EUR (2290 EUR with extra tubes) including shipping to EU (not including PayPal fees or shipping outside EU). Original boxes and certificate of authenticity/guarantee are included. This is the standard 230V L4 G4 that I bought from Kemp Elektroniks (audio distributor from The Netherlands) on August 2014. They upgraded the unit with: - Allen Bradley resistors - Furutech gold plated IEC inlet. That unit had the standard S/PDIF (RCA) digital input and RCA analogue output. Then I sent it to Lampizator to install the following upgrades: - USB Input - DSD Engine - Convert it to fully balanced - 4 new Jupiter Copper Wax capacitors - 2 sets of XLR outputs (Very important for me to be able to connect the DAC to two different amplifiers not having to connect and disconnect cables). I cannot understand why this is not a standard feature in most DACs. - Replace RCA input connector with a 75 ohm BNC connector. The unit has 5 years transferable guarantee from August 2014. Still more than 2 years of official guarantee ahead. After the upgrades I tried different tubes that will I include in the package and sound much better than the default ones (Sovtec): - 2 pairs of Sylvania 6SN7W Short bottle. My favorite tube - Pair of Sylvania 6SN7W big bottle. My favorite too. - Pair of Ken-Rad 6SN7GT VT-231 . My second favorite. Bass to die for. Plastic holder in one tube is broken but it fits perfectly in the DAC and it does not affect the sound. - 2 pairs of 1578 Russian tubes. The best Russian 6SN7 tubes, comparable to the best. Very recommended by Lampizator. - Pair of Tungsol 6SN7WGT tubes. - Sylvania 5Y3WGT rectifier tube - Bendix 6106 rectifier tube (More than 400 EUR in nice tubes) As you can see in the web, this DAC would retail for about 4500 EUR not including the tubes. This is the DAC that made Lampizator famous. It is their best seller that you do not see usually for sale as people normally do not let them go. This Lampizator DAC sounds amazing and it has been very well built. Before doing the upgrade, Lukasz told me in an email: “... the DAC looks very clean and good. It was a specially well made demo unit for potential distributor. ….” Some reviews: ( many more here: REVIEWS ) LampizatOr Level 4 DAC Mono and Stereo High-End Audio Magazine: Lampizator level 4 DAC test review Pictures (click for higher resulution images): Cheers, Victor.
  3. Auralic Taurus MKII Balanced Headphone Amp(Sale Price $1329, reg retail $1899) SALE - SAVE $480 on the $1899 Retail Price From Now Until January 31st Begins from the pursuit of an extraordinary amplifier that can well match with modern top quality headphones, inspired by the soul of Rupert Neve's legendary design philosophy, bearing with modern simplism style appearance, TAURUS MKII is born with a perfect coalescence of classic and pop elements. The smooth, rich and detailed voice of TAURUS MKII is a succession of AURALiC’s elegant and graceful aesthetic taste. Referring to Neve analog console’s circuit design, AURALiC invent the ORFEO Class-A output module and fit them into TAURUS MKII. The ORFEO module offers great driving ability by delivers 1000mW (600ohm) to 4500mW (32ohm) power into various loads; this allows TAURUS MKII to squeeze out every headphone’s capabilities, unfold the beauty of their unique sonic style. Resorting to the ultra low noise input buffer tailored by AURALiC, TAURUS MKII has a wide dynamic range greater than 130dB while maintains the output noise less than 5uV. With such astonishing performance, TAURUS is able to capture the most tiny music expression coming from the source component. The TAURUS MKII builds on the design of the original award-winning TAURUS, launched in 2010, by concentrating all surface-mounted components in an audio signal patch. It also increased the TAURUS’ EMI shielding, reducing noise from the input buffer to 0.8uV, less than half the level of the original. Additionally, AURALiC improved the input switch circuit to increase the isolation among different input channels, which boosts performance when the TAURUS MKII is connected to multiple sources. Smoothed music expression, sophisticated circuit design and brilliant appearance; TAURUS MKII is another exemplary works designed by AURALiC. 4. The DAC501 is Weiss Engineering's new state of the art D/A Converter with an unprecedented level of sophistication and versatility. With the DAC501 Weiss is creating a new paradigm for what used to be a black box device. A typical D/A Converter is a "set and forget" device. Not so with the DAC501. It adds a number of interesting signal processing features and sports a variety of digital inputs. Balanced, unbalanced and headphone outputs are provided. Weiss Engineering has a 30 year history in D/A Converter design. In that time span they have learned a thing or two about converter design. The DAC501 is the essence of their experiences. FEATURES Inputs AES/EBU or S/PDIF via XLR, Toslink and RCA UPnP / DLNA (via Ethernet) USB Accepted formats: PCM 44.1kHz up to 384 kHz, DSD 64x / 128x Future formats can be accommodated for via software updates Outputs Line out unbalanced on RCA connector Line out balanced on XLR connector Headphone out on 1/4" Jack Analogue One of the latest 32 bit D/A Converter chips is used Discrete output stages for both line and headphone outputs Signal Processing The DSP algorithms can be different depending on which output is selected (line or headphone). Some DSP algorithms have to work differently if they are used for headphones in comparison to speakers. Creative Equalizer - A tone control with low boost/cut, high boost/cut and mid boost/cut. Very useful to correct those recordings which do not quite fit your taste. De-Essing - The automatic removal of overly bright sibilances from human voices. The sibilance effect can be more or less pronounced depending on your speakers or room acoustics. Constant Volume - Adjusts the audio volume (loudness) to a constant value across all tracks played. Useful for "party mode" when the volume control should stay untouched. Vinyl Emulation - Get that special sonic character of a record player based playback chain. Crosstalk Cancelling (XTC) - For the playback of dummy head recordings or live recordings via speakers for an incredible live sensation. (For speaker based playback only.) Out Of Head Localization algorithm - Tries to get the music "out of your head" when listening via headphones. The goal is to achieve a similar listening sensation as one gets when listening via speakers. (For headphone based playback only.) The DAC501 is operated via the rotary encoder control on the faceplate, the touch sensitive color LCD display or the IR remote control. Some additional settings can be done via a web interface from any computer. Controls The DAC501 is operated via the rotary encoder control on the faceplate, the touch sensitive color LCD display or the IR remote control. Some additional settings can be done via a web interface from any computer. Mechanics The DAC501 has a similar size as the Weiss DAC202 unit. The DAC502 version is a larger size unit, similar to their MAN301 unit. The features of the DAC502 are the same as the ones of the DAC501. We've now begun accepting pre-orders. 6. Here is your chance to own the legend with almost all the available options, but at the base price. I have too many great DACs and need to raise cash for some new analog gear, so I'm selling my Crimson Balanced USBDAC from the workshop of Gordon Rankin. The base unit ($7500 MSRP) is loaded with rare "Cobalt" core copper transformers (a $2500 option at the time of purchase), the Denominator DAC module (a $1500 option), as well as the volume control (a $750 option). In total, it is a $12,250 tricked-out version of this legendary USBDAC. I am willing to sell it to a good, Computer Audiophile-approved home for $7500 - the price of the base unit alone. If it doesn't sell "in the family" so to speak, I will list it on Audiogon for somewhat more. Exceptional condition (maintained in a smoke- and pet-free environment). Thanks for your consideration. - Pete -
