    Adding a pre amp

The built-in crossovers are almost assuredly 70 Hz 12db/octave Butterworth filters, in other words -3dB @ 70 Hz. Your sub low pass would be 24dB Linkwitz-Riley (Butterworth squared) filters, -6dB @ 100Hz, which is about -3dB @ 80 Hz, so not too far off. At 200 Hz, where it matters more, the 70Hz BW2 slope is -18dB, whereas the 100Hz LR4 slope is -24dB. PS The preamp is back in my system. It has a more muscular, pacier sound through the preamp vs. the DAC outputs, which give a more ethereal sound.

    New gear and measurements

Your question is too broad. Which components are you looking to buy? There are many ways to configure a system, especially these days with streaming. The best way for you to end up with a great system is to tell the people here what you are trying to do, and ask for specific recommendations. Specs are not helpful in general. I am having a discussion on another board, where someone touted the Chromecast Audio DAC as having better specs than a Schiit Yggdrasil. That may be true, but I'd much rather listen to the Yiggy. 😁

    New gear and measurements

Looking for sound quality in the numbers is a hopeless cause. I first found this out decades ago, when a I heard a 40W amp that blew away a much more expensive 200W amp, and an amp with 0.5% THD that made amps with 0.005% distortion sound like toys. Even cheap DACs have impeccable specs these days. I don't ignore specifications, but they will tell you very little if anything about sound quality.

Amazon Echo Link Stream Now Available

No digital out, so you are stuck with their DAC. I'll stay with Chromecast Audio.

    Speaker Box

Building a loudspeaker is not just about mounting drivers into a box. Crossover design is complex. Bass and midrange drivers need to be in separate enclosures, or the larger driver will pump the smaller. A woofer needs a particular size of box to achieve the desired frequency response and a passive radiator needs to match precisely, otherwise you end up with a big mess. There are computer programs available to model this. WinISD is highly thought of and easy to use. http://www.linearteam.org/ You'll need to learn the basics before anyone can even start to help you. As it stands, your project has no chance of sounding good.
  6. I have a 1998 CD, made from a 20-bit digital remaster of Lurssen's mastering. It sounds fine to me. It never occurred to me to listen critically to this iconic record. What's Goin On? is all about the groove and the message.

Is it possible to rip SACD's using Oppo BDP-95?

As Kal said, you can't rip the SACD files. You can however record from the Oppo's analog outputs. Using something like the Korg DS-DAC-10R, you will not be able to distinguish the result from the original. https://www.amazon.com/Korg-DSDAC10R-SOFTWARE-ANALOG-CONVERTER/dp/B017TZ0KYO/ref=pd_sbs_267_1?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B017TZ0KYO&pd_rd_r=db0f0f42-f9c9-11e8-a554-ebeb1c959b51&pd_rd_w=7wYsY&pd_rd_wg=PgV7E&pf_rd_p=7d5d9c3c-5e01-44ac-97fd-261afd40b865&pf_rd_r=EKV9E6VH5H79HPDMA6NM&psc=1&refRID=EKV9E6VH5H79HPDMA6NM

    Confused about DSD and DAC's

I'd be surprised if you can find a DAC that outperforms or even matches the Korg DS-DAC-10 at the price. Just read the Amazon reviews: https://www.amazon.com/Korg-DSDAC100-Channel-Portable-Playback/dp/B00GGHHG8A/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1544149480&sr=8-2&keywords=korg+ds-dac-10 Up to 192/24 and native 2X DSD conversion too. Don't stress about being tied to the Audiogate software, it works with most others as well (foobar2000, Kazoo, etc.). The freebie headphone amp is no joke either. It drives my Grado SR 60 and Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro headphones beautifully.

I need some advice on a new DAC

I don't see any mention of sound quality in your reasons for preferring the ADI-2 over the DAC2. Could you please provide a some description of how they sound? Do you prefer the RME sound only because of the equalization feature?
  10. I could not hear any difference but I am not familiar with this style of music, and I always prefer vocal tracks for SQ comparisons.

Article: Why Can't Music Artists Do This?

Neil Young has repeatedly spoken out for good sound over the years. https://www.cnet.com/news/neil-young-savages-apple-over-audio-quality/ PS Tom Cruise is not a real actor, he just plays Tom Cruise in every movie.

    EarSpace!!!!

I'm enjoying the series but the recordings are too limited to provide any sort of critical evaluation.

    SoTM SMS-200 neo or Microrendu 1.4 ?

Bummer, I was hoping to hear a comparison of the two in this thread.

USB audio transmission isn’t bit true

@beerandmusic, why the fixation with isosynchronous USB? Aren't most audiophile DAC's asynchronous?

Audiophile VS Musiphile - Your Thoughts?

Actually I am 100% satisfied with the DT 1990. These headphones with Analytical pads and Asgard II amp are the end game for my headphone system.
