Is Digital Audio A Mature Science?

On that note I am going up to the mountain. I'm going to start a fire, watch the snow fall, and listen to music.

My own feeling is that digital audio is a mature science ( or technology ). The low hanging fruit has been picked. Now we are at the stage of increasingly exotic measures whose benefits are increasingly minute or un-measurable. They can only be heard by "Golden Ears". I gave up listening to equipment some time back. I listen to music now.

WOW! Asking if digital audio is a mature science seems to have gotten someones panties in a bunch. The Gods from Mount Olympus have descended into the general forum to enlighten the great unwashed. Brings to mind a quote from Shakespeare: " Methinks he doth protest too much".

And I come back to the original question. If we have to take extraordinary measures to elicit an infinitesimally small increase, is digital audio a mature science?

Should we post rules so this thread is not "deliberately derailed"?

"However you of course know better, so I have no interest in discussing this further and will not be doing so in this thread.." What happened?

With regards to data being different from music, If the music bits are isolated from extraneous noise and sent to the DAC in the correct order, and are then timed or re-timed to the accuracy of the original ADC, are we not recreating the original sound wave. If we have noise at 140 db down should we be going through extraordinary efforts to reduce noise to 140.5 db down?

ALL components in the chain are subject to the possibility of creating extraneous noise! Every components has a power supply. Every component creates heat. As I said in another thread, any first year EE student is probably capable of isolating noise.

    That was me being civil.

Those music bits are rascally little devils. Got a mind of their own.

So, how many angels can dance on the head of a pin? Let me see if I can understand this. Even though trillions of bits of data are ACCURATELY sent around the world every day, we cannot send music bits accurately? In order to enjoy music we need to play vinyl on a turntable on a "high order" system?

    MQA is Vaporware

Strikes me as odd that we can accurately conduct billions of financial transactions daily but there are people that believe that we cannot maintain data integrity to play music. I would think that any first year EE student would know how to isolate data from interference and be able to send it down the line.
