    MQA is Vaporware

Right out of the high resolution playbook but as I've told Marc Finer (DEG) and many at the labels. You will find high resolution audio a very hard sell.

Back on topic Rafe Arnott just posted that MQA has taken the music industry by storm. I'm sure he isn't talking about the storm against the format. But he is trying to say that thousands of songs and albums mean anything. I wish him luck with that.

Also interesting is Astell&Kern's announcement that they have implemented a full MQA decoder. Which according to the press release unfolds to the full resolution of the original file. In a lot of cases the file size is 16/44.1.

The studio guys in the United States don't seem upset with what I'm going or what is going on here. Personally, I have the support of a lot high profile industry figures and the Grammy people distributed the original vaporware post. It's pretty easy find me if you have objections or concerns. The only consistent concern I've gotten is I'm hurting the audio press by doing the investigative work they should have done from the audio press of course. Guess what I don't care. I told Andrew Quint when he said you can't blame us for everything, we're certainly going to try in 2018. Maybe 2019 should be the year to start criticizing reviewers? Archimago has gotten a good start in the wraparound part of the year (PGA Tour term). Barry Diament will come back. I'll ask him when the time is right. Personal attacks and insults worked like a charm in 2017. And are doing pretty well in 2018. There is clear path where people and companies can play in without interference. They seem to be moving in that direction.

This thread is reaction to the activities of the audio press in 2014, 2015 and 2016. There was a lot of effort expended to get as much of the press as possible on board. There was a lot pressure applied to manufacturers to license MQA.

Don't forget the OP moonlighted in the broadcasting industry for 15 years. I conducted double and other blind tests and participated in them. An of course was paid for it.

What has been going on with MQA is having an impact. "If the feedback and correspondence I receive globally is anything to go on, enthusiasts are victims of misinformation overload and as such their frustration levels are HIGH." David Blumenstein

I like people to self-identify they are a problem to the hobby of high performance audio. Saves me a lot of trouble documenting who is a problem. The list generally grows steadily with with a few spikes when people get nervous about various authorities being questioned. In any case this thread will soon be over and all the craziness on display here will be documented. I will more ruthless in removing off topic posts in the "MQA is not Commercially Viable" thread.

Lee the marketing campaign of MQA is based on the seven techniques of propaganda. And to paraphrase Henry R Luce (Time Magazine founder) it is up to us to decide the truth, the false, the near-truth and the near-false. Many have chosen Computer Audiophile as a place to decide these issues and share their views. MQA as a format could not withstand the scrutiny.

It is a fair comment. Volume means nothing to me. Look at this like the s-curve cycle of innovation. I want people to write about topics before the tipping point. The best Steve Guttenberg can do is be a part of a late majority. In other words he is on the wrong side of the bell curve. Bringing this back on topic. Steve's YouTube video the"problem" with MQA is perfect example. Recorded October 19, 2017 he is just noticing that MQA changes the master. This was four months after I talked with Bob Stuart about the issue myself. And I noticed the issue more than a year before I talked with Bob about it. In this case Steve Guttenberg is a laggard on the s-curve.

I'm generally okay with Steve filling space this way but I would rather have his gallery be his readers equipment and spaces not members of the press. I'm pleased with the direction he is going but it has taken more than a couple of conversations with him to get him pointed in a better direction.

USB audio transmission isn’t bit true

Sandy, I know Gordon Rankin. I had a problem when he said about MQA, "if you knew what I know..." If you have been around hi-tech as I have that phrase is rarely used around successful products. At RMAF this year we talked about guitar amps and oddly hearing. Skipping solid state seemed like a good idea.
