Hi Yes 5N Cryo is standard in their better cables they develope. And they use a twin-axial balanced matrix geometries , where one of the channels got slight thicker AWG sizes than the second channel, and they use over sized Teflon tubes with air as dielectric, so the higher KHz FQ's can travel more feely whereas the lower sub Hz FQ's travel inside the core of the conductor. And separate ground point instead of using the outer ring of the BNC plug, you can instead choose to ground it in a active or passiv grounding box or in your equipment. Habst use about 10 leading silver conductors with different AWG size in each channel. But as you wondered a BNC can not be true balanced so the two channels is soldered together in the end plug, so it is like a semi-balanced design you can say. If you go for the AES/EBU XLR the cable is exactly the same but with 110 Ohm XLR plugs instead. synergisticresearch use the same design ,but they have put in som more magic such as graphene and a filter etc. Hard to say how much better it sounds, but according to Audio Bacon it sound great. A New Habst Digital BNC 75 Ohm 5N Cryo with dual chanel termination and separated RCA ground was delivered to my door yesterday for some testing. Have it on burn in right now before any critical testing, but it looks promising. It sounds very alike my AQ Diamond BNC , but slight slight more separation but but the same heavy deep dark fluid sound so far. The Oyaide BNC got a more dryness and clinical. I will also try the new Nordost Odin 2 vs my MIT Oracle Ma-X in the next few weeks in the Ultra High End leauge.

@AMP i discovered for a few month ago that if i play a song on the NB and pull the RJ45 cable from it, that it still play the track for 15 seconds, i thought the NB did not use a read ahead RAM memory buffer at all , and that it only did som sample correction during the track, or is this something you have implemended in the newer FW’s ?

From my testing it is not that huge diffrence in audiable SQ wise 44.1-192 khz .

That is absolutley correct, sorry i used wrong word, not recomend, they have used MIT , Transparent and Nordost in their demo and testing rigs. I lile the Mit Oracle MA-X csbles where you can tune the sonic charachter for best synergy effect. Yes it could be good to use the same cables in some csbles, but Word.clock signals is more like a anslog frequency that is static, so the sound characteristics is not applicable like on how the cables “brother” that transport SPDIF signals that can be good to know

It is two great cables, no questions about if you got the budjet for it. As an cheaper alternativ is Habst AES/EBU and Bnc 75 Ohm cables that i have tried out now for a couple of weeks, and they give you a great fluid / vivid sound, without any grain or metallic shine. One of the better cables i have tried out in the middle price point and in the upper. The best cable i ha e heard amd own is the reference cable dCS use and recommend, and that is the MIT Oracle MA-X BNC 75 Ohm with its passive artikulation 3D system that you can decide on your own what type of signature you want with an 6 step attuniator knob on the silver cable.

“The clock cable was not dark in this case”, what i meant was the Transparent XL AES/EBU can be slight darker in the tone. The Clock cables do also make a diffrence absolutley, but that was not what i meant,

Great Choice! I like the Berkeley Alpha DAC for its full-bodied tone and presentation, but vs a dCS DAC it comes slight short in my book. And if you got a deacent price on a Vivaldi DAC you then got a great platform for expansion in the future , i would try it out with the vivaldi clock, but in the same time the NB internal clock is so good so the diffrence would only be slighty calmer and more fluid with the clock vs without. You mentioned the Transparent XL Ref, where you thinking of using dual AES/EBU cables or single SPDIF or? Then you need a descent word.clock cable if you would like to sync the clocks in each product. I think you should evaluate a few mid to top end cables and see what you think. The diffrence can be pretty big, and its hard to just say go for the most expensive alternative. Transparrent XL is a good choice if you like slight darker tone, but there is many others brands that is great also, so try out a few others is my tip 👌

Thanks! Sorry i haven't listened or compared them yet. Most sertenly, but 30 hours minimum, i have had them for about 3 month time now, and mybe they progress slightly after 100++ houers , but it could be placebo also, i find them slightly to flat in the sound stadge + shiny & sharp nevertheless, compared to other cables i got. The vivid rich musicality is slightly lost.

Yes normaly silver cables got this signature but is not a overal rule, but this time the Oyaide fell under the same light unfortenatly. I got many silver cables that is not sharp or clinical either, but it is often an outcomst of the insolation , the shielding material and if its solid connector. Multistrand silver cables without a helix silver shieldning tend often to sound softer than a helix silver shielding with proplen isolation and solid core conductors. I am a critical listener , and i felt the diffrence for Oyaide vs MIT Oracle Ma-X , Apogee Wide Eye , Audio Quest Diamond BNC , and Canare 4k 12 G was pretty huge for a cable alone. ( The Oyaide also needs like 30 houers burn in to settled slightly)

    dCS Network Bridge

Yes, in my opinion the synergy is better, because the Network Bridge is towards the slight neutral side from the beginning, so you get slight more metallic shiny sharpness in the top end on string instruments with the Oyaide, whereas you get a richer tone without the metallic shine with more depth with Canare 4k 12G or Belden 8k 12G gives you the similar sound also. ( Nordost is using Belden BNC plugs on Valhalla 2 BNC for example, and many other High End brands are using the Canare connectrors. ) i have tryed out Valhalla 2 as word.clock cable, but i can not recomend to use it as a word.clock cable, only as SPDIF , but i couldent here any diffrence between the Canarare 4k 12 G in my Abyss Phi headphones or in my speakers used as SPDIF, they vere very similar. The Oyaide used as SPDIF gives you an slight clinical unnatural resolution and less depht. This effect is most probable the use of a singel solid silver wire, it is better to use multi stranded wire for less clinical effect if you should go with the silver route. Hope that clarifies a little.

    dCS Network Bridge

Yes i got all three in my possession, and you are thinking to use them as word.clock cabels ? I think the Canare 12G-SDI gives you a fuller richer sound with great depht , whears the Apogee is slight dryer overall , and the Oyaide gives you less 3D depht but slight higher detail overal , but i find them flatter and slight more harder in the top end.

@AMP Great update! Now the App behaives much more stable than ever before, just one crash since startup this morning, and now when i am wrightning this it is night over here where i am based. 👍👌 Tryed to enable DNS but it just jumps back to the No setting, so i cant fill in the DNS adress? Would be great if the focus in the next FW/SW could be on the audio SQ performance , so it plays on par with my Puccini with SACD’s would be great! Today it is not that much Air / separation / soundstadge / slight more flatter / compressed even if you play DSD 128 in my comparison , could this be a hardware limitation or is it possible to sqeeze slight more out of the FPGA do you think in the next release? And last but least! Is your recomendation to use the NB as Master clock insted of the Puccini U-clock II i am using today? Yes or No ? 🙏🏻 Keep up the good work!
  14. Beolab

    dCS Network Bridge

@AMP if we dont care of the functionalities and just focus on the SQ performance, would you then use the NB Streamer as a Master word. clock insted of using a Paganini or Puccini U-Clock II ?? To clarify my question: Is if the Word. Clock in the NB Stremer better ? Try to answer this please 🙏🏻
  15. Beolab

    dCS Network Bridge

@AMP Is your knowlege / experience / spec wise that it is better to use the NB streamer as Master word. clock insted of using the older master clocks like Paganini Master Clock / Puccini U-Clock II etc ?? That is what what a few users in this thread try to ask you?
