  1. How do you know you are dealing with USB noise? Because if you really hear noise through your speakers, I think the issue is more about grounding, or at least mor severe than what these devices try to do. With or without my Regen or Audio GD usb-spdif, I can hear clear differences in stage, clarity all the hifi stuff. But I never hear noise. Isn't the USB noise we're talking about the digititus that you can visualise in eye-patterns, or in jitter measurements, and what is causing loss of audiophile pleasure? 2. A streamer dac with colored LED logo that indicates the input used; red for optical, blue for bluetooth, green for wifi or coax. Sent from my MI 2 using Computer Audiophile mobile app
  3. I've heard a Linn and Naim streamer next to each other, and Naim has as you descibe a more upfront, front row, engaging sound. Sent from my MI 2 using Computer Audiophile mobile app
  4. Thanks, indeed I'm using a Macbook with build 193, and HQP is on "localhost". Not sure how I can point it to a fixed IP. Is this the IP of my NAA?
  5. Same here, using HQplayer in Roon stopped working after the update. HQplayer on its own works, Roon to Airplay works, but Roon to HQ doesn't. Hope this will be fixed soon. Or should we change some settings to get it working? Sent from my iPad using Computer Audiophile
  6. Such a minimum phase filter, is no free lunch, with no pre -ringing it has twice as much post ringing. And does not have linear phase. Mostly in high frequencies the phase turn can be more than 180 degrees. I think minimum phase filters can sound a bit artificial spacious. Sent from my MI 2 using Computer Audiophile mobile app
  7. No, overclocking your cpu will not influence the timing, it will compute faster, and will 'stutter' less. Read some guide to overclocking, computer websites like anandtech, tom's hardware etc provide usefull guides. Note, monitor your cpu temp and stability of the system. 8. I wonder how you would rate the regen, with the ipower psu. It would sound better most likely, and the total price is still close to the inano3.0. Sent from my MI 2 using Computer Audiophile mobile app
  9. Still I don't think that a company that has the name "After master", and that implies that it will "remaster" your music, has the highest audio quality in mind. More maximum loudness. And I don't like the loudness war that is going on in the music industry. It's not possible to recover lost information for instance, making the audio quality 'better'. You can upsample, which is a different story, that can make it sound better in some cases, depending on the DAC. But just making all music, also very good mastered or audiophile music sound even better, sounds like snake oil, or just plain increasing loudness, to me. From their website I found this, and it says enough: [h=4]AfterMaster proprietary audio technology offers a significant increase in loudness, clarity, depth and fullness not available through traditional audio mastering and processing technologies.[/h]
  10. To me that Aftermaster pro sounds like a device that will dynamically compress the audio. Furthermoe, HDMI (and Toslink) are prone to high amounts of jitter. There is just not much tweak with. USB has a very high potential, but noisy power leaves a lot of room to tweak the sound quality. Sent from my MI 2 using Computer Audiophile mobile app
  11. Why all the emotional reactions? What is wrong with the 'source first' strategy? It's also a strategy that some people are happy with and is working for them. Sent from my MI 2 using Computer Audiophile mobile app
  12. You can put an ipad to sleep by just pushing one button, and off by holding the button for a couple of seconds and to swipe. Don't know of two buttons the open Siri or turn the ipad off. For the ip adres, you can probably give your NAS a fixed ip adres in the menu of your router. Sent from my MI 2 using Computer Audiophile mobile app
  13. For low heat, you could also undervolt your CPU. It's not docemented very well, on the internet most tweakers forum discuss overclocking. But on http://www.silentpcreview.com there should be some info on the topic of undervolting. Try increments of 0.05V. The voltage has a large contribution to the power consumption and hence heat production. Sent from my MI 2 using Computer Audiophile mobile app
  14. What if you have an effective resolution of 18 bits, a Rega dac according Stereophiles measurements? Is it best to keep HQplayer at 24 bit or put it on 18 bit? Sent from my MI 2 using Computer Audiophile mobile app
  15. My setup with moca adapters works great with HQplayer and an NAA. Sent from my MI 2 using Computer Audiophile mobile app
