Per @Jud's recommendation, enjoying this in DSD.

Jud, as you mentioned on another thread, the later concertos seem to be particularly inspired. I agree with you there. In fact, for concertos 1-3, I think this one is still my favorite:

+1. I tried also Savall's version after Jud's recommendation. It is very involving performance indeed.

Indeed, it's a great album, one of the best actually of CTI's records (at least for me). CTI sometimes is sounds and feels like Jazz, but often it is not. But this record is outstanding. Not surprising when having such a high-powered ensemble playing together. Great choice!

Rachmaninov: Piano Concerto No. 2, Etudes-tableaux Op 33. Engaging performances by Boris Giltburg. Carlos Miguel Prieto conducts the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.

Fine sound from a Qobuz 24/96 download.

This got a lot of praise from Gramophone. Haven’t had time to check it out yet. Would you recommend it?

I would recommend at least streaming it for a listen. I particularly like the tempo choices, especially the first movement.

Excellent release on Qobuz in 24/192

Cleveland Orchestra (George Szell)

Beethoven Symphony No.3 Eroica (Remastered) [24/192]

One of the all-time great Eroicas and an excellent remastering job by Sony, taming the steeliness/edginess from previous CD incarnations. (I got the 24/192 download from HDtracks.)

MacBook Pro 2021 16” (M1 Pro, 16MB RAM, macOS Ventura) > Audirvana Origin > Pangea Audio USB-AG > Sony TA-ZH1ES > Nordost Heimdall 2 > Audeze LCD-3
