Popular Post wgscott
Do I need the MQA deconvolution code to hear the hecklers? (If so, this could be the first compelling argument in favor of the "technology".) John G and Hugo9000 2 Link to comment
Popular Post crenca
I did not watch the thing straight through, but I caught 15 minutes or so skipping around. About a dozen or so industry insiders who are fuming mad their narrative of MQA did not prevail. They could not stomach Chris's pro/con presentation. These are the guys who are going to lead and advance High Fidelity? They have their heads so far up their own very limited viewpoint they simply are incapable of comprehending consumers are not buying what they are selling. Were there any consumers or audiophiles in the room at all? Who is this Derrick fellow? I have some beachfront property in Arizona I want to sell him... Popular Post crenca
@The Computer Audiophile, As you said at the end, you "tried". You tried to lead the old guard industry insider horses to water, but then we already knew from their behavior these last few years they simply are having none of it. They are right, and everybody else (including their own customers!) are wrong. When you looked out at the crowd in the beginning and saw who was there, you must have known the likely outcome. You stuck your head into the lion's mouth anyways and two cheers for doing that. That said, you did not really think they were actually going to actually listen did you? Even though these shows are not completely irrelevant to the actual consumers in Audiophiledom, they are largely a place where industry insiders reinforce each other in all their beliefs, perspectives, etc. Scoggins is selling himself to those who matter to him, and he appears successful at this. Consumers should be very weary of these sorts of "opinion makers"... MrMoM 1 Hey MQA, if it is not all $voodoo$, show us the math! Link to comment

Near the end of Chris’s presentation, think it was the cubby whitish haired guy on the second from the far right in the row forward of the angry MQA guy who was also in the far right. Possibly? Hope this makes sense. The one that angered me the most was the mofo that first began the heckling....top row left but was not angered by his statements per se but with his pathetic and continual need for reassurance as he always looked to the audience for reassurance and agreement...typical bullying tactics Indydan and MrMoM 1 1 Link to comment

Popular Post Possum Jenkins
It's very clear why the MQA people reacted this way, if anything Chris I would take it as a compliment, they're clearly rattled and somewhat irrational. Kudos to you for getting up there and facing the mob... Hugo9000, Mike48, Shadders and 4 others 5 2 Link to comment
Popular Post mjb
Well, actually it doesn't matter. The audience turned the presentation into a bit of a sham. Good on Chris for making his point despite the opposition. jventer, The Computer Audiophile and MrMoM 1 2 Link to comment

Don Hills
Those answers and assertions from the "pro MQA" people in the audience deserve careful transcription and analysis. I gained the impression that they have put several shots in their own feet, or at least provided the ammunition. mcgillroy 1 "People hear what they see." - Doris Day The forum would be a much better place if everyone were less convinced of how right they were. Currawong
Watching it reminds me of teaching elementary/primary school children. Give them an inch, they take a mile. This kind of presentation needs a firm announcement at the beginning that there will be absolutely no questions or comments until the end. Anyone who interrupts must be reminded of this first, after asking their name, their rudeness pointed out the second time, then asked to leave if they continue. Link to comment
Wildcat
I ran into Scoggins at AXPONA, on an elevator--he is a first-class name dropper (he threw out John Atkinson's name in his typical loud and boorish fashion) and brown-noser, doing so to ingratiate himself with the industry. He also used to claim he was bestest buddies with David Chesky, just to give a point of reference. Of course he's gung-ho on MQA! He gets reamed elsewhere for "whoring" MQA with his one-sided opinions. He's one of these fellows with a successful business and too much disposable income--he's above the "typical" consumer out there, hence the condescending attitude which is hinted at above. And kudos to Chris for standing up to the MQA contingent. The more cracks in MQA's foundation, the better. :) The Computer Audiophile 1 Link to comment
