NUC with ROCK or ROON NUCLEUS

Guys I have a i7 NUC with ROCK that I have been using.... Thinking how much of a difference the ROON NUCLEUS with i3 would make? 

 

Please share your thoughts :)

However if you are planning to use HQPlayer, the SonicTransporter my be the best choice ?

 

Would love to see ROCK with an integrated HQPlayer.

What do you mean by this part? I'm trying to figure out my Roon and system topology now and this caught my eye.

So what do you have and what is your budget ?

And is HQPlayer a requirement ?

 

If you like to use HQPlayer, a SonicTransporter is most likely the way to go. 

 

And Roon plus an endpoint is the best configuration in general. 

 

Then you can start to add power supplies etc.

If you already have the Nuc, you could check the 'novel way to massively improve' topic, and use Audiolinux on your Nuc. Some people find it vey good with a Nuc. Audiolinux is a customized Linux distribution, tuned for soundquality, and can be used for Roon, and HQplayer. Also, Snake-oil OS is something similar. Worth checking out.

I see no reason to buy a Nucleus over a sonicTransporter. Heck for the price of the base Nucleus you can get a sonicTransporter i7 and have a much more flexible and powerful box. I love my sonicTransporter i5! You cannot beat the support you get from Small Green Computer!

There are threads on the Roon forum about it.  I'd have to go find them and quite frankly I don't have the time at the moment.

Let’s see how compelling these “options” are before we making purchasing decisions based on vaporware. 

 

For me, the option to have HQPlayer Embedded is a big deal. That alone makes Nucleus a no go.
