Mozart_son
Dear All, Audiophile concept is larger then just material or amplification or CD readers and cables. Experience in the musicia world, shows that it is really important to understand that CD recordings made in an audiophile optic has a great impact on the final result. The recording itself is VERY important and will change radiclay the quality of what will come out of the HIFI. One can hear which of this CDs respects the nature of the accoustic where they were recorded as well as the natural sounds of the participing instruments. Did you know that 99% of the recordings are manipulated and transformed radicaly in the mastering proces? This happens to make the CDs as "perfect" as possible and also to "fit" the world's tendens of sound type. By this "fashion" we lost now days the creativity. Everyone does the almost the same : standard sound engenering!! One can compare it with fruit in our supermarkets (all the same colour and shape) when we know that nature can't do twice the same identical thing.... ............... PAP
There are well made CD's you can buy made from respected audiophile sources; Carmen Gomes is selling her CD's made from the Sound Liaison masters via BandCamp; https://carmengomes.bandcamp.com/ You can buy Reference Recordings CDs such as Doug MacLeod's "There's a Time" via https://www.amazon.com/Theres-Time-Doug-Macleod/dp/B00B27WSXM or how about the ''kind of blue legacy edition'' also available via amazon, These are all very well made albums with an excellent SQ. I could go on and on...... blue2 1 Link to comment

Well, I have it still for example, since time to time I prefer physical medium vs. files. Normally I am trying to obtain every time the best version of the material, but sometimes not all of them have booklets for instance, CD always have it. I like also that physical media phenomena like opening vinyl record for instance :-) And yes, I have turntable as well :-) PAP, blue2, Teresa and 2 others 3 1 1 -- Krzysztof Maj http://mkrzych.wordpress.com/ "Music is the highest form of art. Popular Post blue2
Having gatefold sleeves and booklets was great and a good argument for vinyl, but not all legible without a microscope these days ;) No way I'd go back to LP's now though. Nostalgia isn't what it used to be :-) CD's are still a great way to acquire new music when bought second hand. Has to be something special before I shell out on high res or DSD - my favourite format. mkrzych and PAP 1 1 🎸🎶🏔️🐺 Link to comment

Carmen released a youtube video of the alternate take. I guess seeing is believing I saw a on facebook that someone claimed the recordings were fake, that Carmen and her band were ''play backing"!If so they are damn good actors and the recording still sounds amazing. In Australia the CD market has always been relatively strong - we have a retailer, JB Hi-Fi, who has always provided a great CD buying experience - plenty of bins of specials, etc, to work your way through . There's something about the physical process of acquiring an album that adds to the experience - I like it! Link to comment

Absinthe (ECM Records, Stream Qobuz) Quote When switching from the S10 Signature streamer to the CD-35 CD player there were two things I noticed. First, the confirmation of just how superb a source the S10 Signature is. Second, that the CD format still brings a certain aspect that a computer source does differently, no matter how it is implemented. The S10 Signature is probably the most non-computer-Esque-sounding streamer that I have heard. It sounds so effortlessly full-blooded and musical that one need not worry about playing CDs. That is until one makes a direct comparison. What CD still does better is to provide depth and substance, as well as natural flow, to vocals and acoustical instruments within the soundstage. What the S10 adds, though, is slightly better transparency and slightly higher precision with more articulate bass. Oh well, at least this leaves something to choose from. Or not, budget allowing! Personally, I am a fan of AND-AND. Why choose? Link to comment
