Subwoofer Control Wires

Hello,

 

I have an old Harmon Kardon Subwoofer, its one of the cheaper 2.1 computer systems, but unfortunetly do not have the left and right speakers that go with it. Its just like any typical computer subwoofer where the controls are all on one of the speakers. I took it apart and found that the left speaker port has two extra wires running to it; these would be the control wires. But I'm not really sure how these systems are controlled. I would think that there would be some sort of trebble and base knobs along with the volume but with only two extra wires I have no idea how these signals would get sent. If anyone could shed some light it would be much appreciated.
