5400 RPM or 7200 RPM?

Recommended Posts

7200 will make the initial backup a little faster but after that probably won't matter much unless you add massive numbers of albums in one go or make a lot of changes to your metadata.

Recommend using Carbon Copy Cloner for keeping the backup drive in sync with the music drive.

Also two backups, one onsite and one offsite, isn't a bad idea.

Agree with @kumakuma.

SuperDuper! is a nice app too.

And if you want something that's free and will just back up and keep everything in your Music folder sync'd, there's an app called Sync2Folders that works fine, albeit not as polished or full-featured as SuperDuper or CCC.
