audiophile65
Just curious -- any comments on external HDDs having 5400 rpm speed or 7200 rpm speed? Or does it matter? The HDDs will be for back-up purposes, as I will be using 2014 Mac Mini for main music server. Thanks .... Link to comment
ElviaCaprice
nope, doesn't matter. (JRiver) Jetway barebones NUC (mod 3 sCLK-EX, Cybershaft OP 14) (PH SR7) => mini pcie adapter to PCIe 1X => tXUSBexp PCIe card (mod sCLK-EX) (PH SR7) => (USPCB) Chord DAVE => Omega Super 8XRS/REL t5i (All powered thru Topaz Isolation Transformer) Link to comment
kumakuma
7200 will make the initial backup a little faster but after that probably won't matter much unless you add massive numbers of albums in one go or make a lot of changes to your metadata. Recommend using Carbon Copy Cloner for keeping the backup drive in sync with the music drive. Also two backups, one onsite and one offsite, isn't a bad idea. tmtomh 1 Sometimes it's like someone took a knife, baby Edgy and dull and cut a six inch valley Through the middle of my skull Link to comment
tmtomh
Agree with @kumakuma. SuperDuper! is a nice app too. And if you want something that's free and will just back up and keep everything in your Music folder sync'd, there's an app called Sync2Folders that works fine, albeit not as polished or full-featured as SuperDuper or CCC.
