NipperDog
I realize that this is a real long shot but I'm gonna give it a try anyway. Fortunately a lot of you have Tidal and can stream this album and possibly 'name that tune' for me. On the Jaco Pastorius album Honestly, Part 7 starts out with 15 seconds of 'The Sound of Music' theme and then transitions to a melody that's been stuck in my head for literally years, but I've never been able to put a name to it. He also begins Part 9 with this same melody. Unfortunately for me, the music is listed as Parts on this album, and not as songs. ? Please if you can, help solve this mystery for me. Link to comment
christopher3393
I think they may be musical passages from "Stardust" (?) Hoagie Carmichael sang this in "To Have and Have Not". NipperDog 1 Link to comment

I can see why you might think that because they are somewhat similar, but Stardust begins with the first first few notes ascending, but the first few notes of the song I'm taking about are descending. sutherla
The song is "The High and Mighty" from the John Wayne movie of the same name. This is the song he whistles during the film. Sleep good tonight. NipperDog 1 Link to comment

sutherla
No problem, I am glad I could help. I was afraid I was going to be in the same situation as I did not know the answer right away but I knew the tune well. Fortunately the old brain cells came through one more time. Consider it shook.
