Going from Emotiva to McIntosh is a huge upgrade. Class D does not suck generally. Naturally, there are bad class D amps, I had one previously. But I had a bad, or say, mediocre, class AB amp that was leas than exciting. What amazed me most with Devialet‘s amp was the clarity of the sound, resolution, and ease of driving my speakers. Of the two class AB amps I had, none of them delivered this effortless, transparent sound free of any glare. So in my experience, and others for sure agree, a well constructed class D amp can replace AB amps with equal sonic performance! Link to comment

Popular Post ShawnC
It's been awhile since I started this thread. The latest update is that I've settled in on PS Audio's BHK 250 power amp to run my main speakers. This is what I was missing to reproduce the upper frequencies. The class D M700's are very good, especially for the price. But they ultimately miss out on the highs. The first time I plugged the BHK250 in the mix I was taken back by what dynamics and depth this amp has. I've only had it running now for 150 hours so things are settling just starting to shine. It's been a nice journey that's nowhere near complete. The new amp forced me to build a new stereo stand for my equipment. Included are pictures of the stand and my lower level listening area. I don't have a lot of room, so exceptions have to be made. You can see behind the couch is where I spend a great deal of time on the computer, playing guitar and just casual listening. For the sake of just taking pictures I have all the equipment on. Normally the DAC and Power Regenerator screens are always off. When listening to music the receiver is off.
