iFi iPurifier2 Problem in the Context of macOS/OS X

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have a 2013 iMac running High Sierra and run that into a Triode Audio Company TRV-CD5SE vacuum-tube CD player and USB DAC by way a of a Stealth Audio USB 2.0 cable (USB A to USB B).

The sound is great, but I wanted to see if the iFi iPurifier2 would make it even better, so I borrowed one (the USB 2.0 B model, not the USB 2.0 A model) from a friend, but it's not really working.

When I plug it into the USB 2.0 B input of the TRV-CD5SE, all of the Purifier2 lights come on but my iMac can no longer "see" the TRV-CD5SE at all.

I can try another USB 2.0 cable. I have a few extras. I'd just really like to use the Stealth USB cable and I have a feeling it might have to do with High Sierra (macOS / OS X version 10.13.6), which seems to have a lot of bugs with disk formatting and USB 2.0 support; although, the firmware in the iPurifier2 might need an update, too?

Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Andy
