tmtomh
This is probably more of a semantic question than a technical one per se. Either way, I'd rather look stupid asking a question than make an assumption and look even stupider making an incorrect assertion. In another forum I've just read a comment from someone claiming that non-oversampling (NOS) DACs don't buffer or do error correction on the signal coming from the transport. My immediate response to this is that it's an overgeneralization - there are multiple types of error correction, including some that could take place in the circuit before the DAC. In other words, my understanding is that a NOS DAC might not have error correction, but error correction is not something that is impossible by definition with a NOS DAC setup. But I could be wrong, of course. More technically adept members of this forum - what say you? Thanks! Link to comment
Popular Post mansr
Buffering and error correction have nothing to do with the DAC topology. tmtomh and semente 2 Link to comment

True, but I've heard a few that seem to have "error addition"! JC barrows and Audiophile Neuroscience 1 1 Link to comment

BTW, I'm just starting my tube journey and kinda like the errors they add. Link to comment
