Audio_ELF
Has anyone any experience with the Hypex Digital Plate Amplifiers? I was just browsing around and found the Eloise --- ...in my opinion / experience... While I agree "Everything may matter" working out what actually affects the sound is a trickier thing. And I agree "Trust your ears" but equally don't allow them to fool you - trust them with a bit of skepticism. keep your mind open... But mind your brain doesn't fall out. Link to comment
stakhanov
Yes, it could be interesting for a DIY project. But I wonder about the sound quality. In the pdf file they talk about 192 KHz digital input, but it seems that everything will be resampled to 48 KHz by an ASRC before feeding the DSP and the DACs ! So why 192 KHz input ? And, as you say, what's about the quality of the DACs ? Imho I think these modules could be used for a pair of pc desktop monitors for example, but not for high end speakers. barrows
If these are true "digital" amplifiers they would not have to use DAC chips at all. The digital signal would normally be converted from PCM to PWM and then sent to the switching output stage, avoiding any analog conversion at all. Does anyone know if they are truly "digital"? stakhanov
I've seen on the schematics that the DSP acts as a digital filter, then the filtered outputs feed separate DACs, and then the analog outputs of the DACs feed normal class D amplifiers. So they are not truly digital. Link to comment
