iTunes album clean up

I just had a mini disaster with my iTunes organization. Missing much album art  I tried  “tidy my music” -it did a good job of finding album covers—way too good. I now have albums split up between different albums— for example the tracks from  Harry belafonte at Carnegie Hall are now split between three different covers of that album and a greatest hits album.

 

whats the easiest way to clean this up? It appears that album art is linked to each track, so it may not be as simple as cutting and pasting among files.

 

i use audirvana is there any feature there that would help with this. I

I don't have any experience with this specific issue, but check Doug's Applescripts for a huge collection of free and almost free utilities for iTunes.

how many total albums?

 

how many affected albums?

 

you might try checking some of them and see if "Compilation" got changed in the metadata, then change it back if that is the problem

 

failing that, you may need to restore from your last backup

Restore from backup.

Check iTunes and 'tidy my music' for version conflicts ?

Easy to copy preferred art from track then apply to all album but much work for many albums.

Is artwork embedded in music files, or just iTunes library ?
