Nordkapp
So this image was posted earlier in another thread. I believe it was from AXPONA 2018. Regardless, can someone please comment on what in the hell the purpose of these "cables" could possibly be. I'm no E.E, but I have plenty of ideas of what one could use them for, other than electrical signals. These damned things just make me sad for our entire hobby. esldude 1 Link to comment

fas42
If it was done with insight, then it would have been a way to space the conducting cables from the floor and other items in the room - inbuilt cable risers, so to speak. I do this sort of thing because it matters - a zero cost method gets the job done. Link to comment
Nordkapp
Ah, ok. Well thank you. Still seems unnecessarily unnecessary. I like small, tidy and cost effective things. But that's me-less money, less brains. Link to comment
GUTB
I bet those use multiple bundles of conductors with large air dielectrics. Probably very nice sounding. Link to comment

It is nothing unusual if you understand audiophile psyche. After you reach a certain point, you realize there is nothing you could do to improve the sound quality where real improvement can be heard. At that point you begin to search for whatever things that can effect a small change (often imaginary) or distinguish your setup from the rest. This will continue to fuel the interest in your system and keep you and your friends focused on the hobby. Whether the python cable could make a meaningful change or not doesn't matter. The cable itself is now part of the attraction. buonassi, Speedskater, mordante and 2 others 2 3 ST My Ambiophonics System with Virtual Concert Hall Ambience Link to comment

Perhaps they are for connecting to 1 ohm speakers ? The lengths some speaker designers go to never ceases to amaze me either. How a Digital Audio file sounds, or a Digital Video file looks, is governed to a large extent by the Power Supply area. All that Identical Checksums gives is the possibility of REGENERATING the file to close to that of the original file. PROFILE UPDATED 13-11-2020 Link to comment

PorkChop
I laugh at how the exhibitor took pains to tuck away a tiny portion of those pythons behind a curtain. As if it makes the whole setup less obnoxious and unobtrusive. Link to comment
GregWormald
Don't fret about it--all hobbies have extremes that make 'nonsense' to some. Think about 3+ million dollar cars: what difference does it make on speed limited roads? What difference does as a half million dollar watch make to telling the time and date? As long as people have enough money to eat they are welcome to buy what they want for whatever benefit they perceive. Remember there are still people out there who, "because all amplifiers sound the same", won't spend more than $200 on one. mordante 1 Link to comment

Popular Post NOMBEDES
On the WAF scale of 1 to 10 where 1 is ugly and 10 is “OMG! honey, I love your new speakers.” Those cables must be somewhere in the minus 5 to 7 range. Bring those fat boys home and you will be sleeping with the cables, or the fishes.... lucretius and Nordkapp 2 In any dispute the intensity of feeling is inversely proportional to the value of the issues at stake ~ Sayre's Law Link to comment

Well; not saying anything about the cables, - but the last thing that you'd want to trust is the opinion of some electrical engineer, - who the mass majority of, know very little about high end audio, and indeed, - eschew it. look&listen 1 Link to comment
