Kef Q100 worry

Hi

I recently bought 2 KEF q100 (10-100 watt 8ohm) and a SoundblasterX7 (27w+27w 8ohm max). Now I had my volume up at 63  (windows volume and max in foobar) unknowingly when I switched from a another input.

 

Now I worry I damaged my speakers. I dont know if it is silly, but it was extremely loud. Usually I play at a volume of maximal 20. 

 

I tend to worry much about such things. Can someone tell me if that was in the danger zone for my speakers? 

 

Also is there a way to limit the max volume on this output?

if you've got distortion coming out of a speaker/driver, then you damaged it. if not you're good.

What was the signal?  If it was proper digital music file, i.e. not a severely clipped waveform, played by the audio card and that fed the Kefs, they will be fine.  27W of a proper signal won't hurt them at all.

 

I think Foobar has a maximum volume setting available just for situations like this, but I don't use Foobar myself.  But again, 27 watts of an unclipped music file won't break the Kefs, unless it's a 1-note organ blasting along for an hour with a crest factor of under 3.  How do the Kefs sound now?
