photonblur
I'm interested in a sq. comparison of the oppo sonica dac vs. the oppo udp 205 for usb in rca analogue stereo out. I'm not concerned with video or multichannel applications. I heard a 205 with an uptone regen before and after a 72 hr. burnin. The improvement was dramatic. Are power supplies and dac implementations identical, or are there factors that may favor the sound quality of one over the other? thanks, pb- . Link to comment
trl
The stereo part (digital + analogical) seems about the same, so if you're interested only for PCM/DSD stereo content you should be fine with Sonica. Archimago has an in-depth review about this DAC, just find his blog and have a read. You can also check high resolution pictures with inside components for both devices and you'll see that they're virtually the same for the PCM/DSD part. In case you need the BlueRay too, then 205 is probably the right choice. Link to comment
