danco
I'm looking to buy an enclosure, looking to spend 0 - $1000 4 bay I Think?, This will be used for music only if that makes a difference . Any advice on brands would be appreciated Right now I'm using Seagate external hard drives and was wondering if there are any enclosures that I my use an aftermarket power cord as well? Thanks Dan. rando
I nearly made a comment about test beds in another thread here. If you have a bored computer shop owner locally who has been around since the first circuit board. It might be worth seeing if he would solder something into rough shape for you. Hard wired audiophile power supply, barebones driver, open air fanless heatsink above vertical drives, etc. Run that directly into a PCI E-x16 interface or two and make use of lanes instead of resorting to USB. Consumer junk is consumer junk dumbed down to avoid Cletus from making a mess if he follows the instructions vetted by a lawyer. Void the warranty and have some fun! Link to comment
wgscott
I got one of these a couple of years ago: https://www.ixsystems.com/freenas-mini/ Here's a blog entry I made. Unfortunately the figures are no longer in it. Link to comment
