And it sounds weird.  I am trying to think of words to describe it.  She and the guitar are over powering the mics at times, others it sounds like she may be at the end of a tunnel, and yet at others in a room that is either too small or too large.

Doc, given how long it's been since she sadly passed away, my guess is that this was the last bit of recorded music that the record company could find and they just went ahead and marketed it regardless of sound quality. Anything for a buck. They had already compiled what would have logically translated into a two or three albums into twice that. 

 

A shame that such a wonderful artist's legacy isn't treated better.

You are correct.  A few of the songs barely sound releasable.
