Updating iTunes on my PC

I am currently running iTunes version 12.0.1.26 and need to upgrade to the latest version. However, I am concerned that everything will change when I do this. I have an extensive library of my own digital music, with playlists, ratings, etc., and I don't want anything to change, including the view/list I see whenever I open iTunes to play,  organize or synch my music to my ipod (yes, I still love my ipod).

What are the downsides to updating?

dunno re Windows, but the upgrade is fine on my Mac - except I can't use it to upgrade iPhone apps anymore and have to do a more cumbersome process

 

do you have 2 machines?

 

otherwise, you could set up a virtual machine
