Also seems to have moved to CloudFront hosting. Perhaps related. Indeed, there is a https access now. We must consider that NYA is a brand new service and teething troubles are usual. As long as technical issues are eliminated quickly, it is OK. Link to comment
Popular Post Phil Baker
Just to clarify, the NYA site is an archive and not a streaming service. This was created for people to relax and wander, not to make a fortune. I know it's rare to find these days something that is not focused only on profit, but this is truly a labor of love and another creative way to enjoy a musicians' life work. left channel, MikeyFresh, LDF and 1 other 2 2 Link to comment

It defaults to "1" unless you enable hardware acceleration when it will defaults to "4". The menu offers a maximum of "7". I'd be interested to hear if "4" is enough for those experiencing stuttering and dropouts. My results haven't been too bad, but I will also follow @old_bassist's example and send in a request for an app. I was already at the default value of 4, boosted it to 7 and still got dropouts on 24/192. Maybe my motherboard is the weak link, or my crooked Comcast connection (speedtest tells me I have ~75 Mbps). Regardless, NY's archives don't work for me unless I want mp3. #Yoda#
An hour ago, I've got the message from OraStream that the NYA store is open now. I quickly checked the prices, they are anything else than competitive, the Warner Bros. store https://neilyoung.warnerbrosrecords.com/music-2/hd-digital.html is selling most of the albums for less than half of the price. Very disappointing! Link to comment

Popular Post Phil Baker
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Price schedule is set by Warner and we will look into this immediately. agladstone, left channel, #Yoda# and 2 others 4 1 Link to comment
Popular Post Phil Baker
Update: We have temporally closed the store until we can fix the pricing. The pricing schedule set by Warner was incorrect, it will be fixed, and then the store will then reopen. The intention was always to have competitive pricing. Thanks again for calling this to our attention. left channel, agladstone, #Yoda# and 2 others 2 2 1 Link to comment
spin33
I find this to be quite a curious situation, in fact. And an incredible deal if those prices on the Warner Bros storefront hold and NYA/Orastream match them to boot. Many, if not all, of the mainstream digital download stores are not remotely competitive with this. Just did a quick price comparison for the following album and found these results... Neil Young - Storytone (Deluxe Edition) 192/24 FLAC: Warner Bros Store $13.99 Acoustic Sounds $35.98 HDtracks $34.98 7digital $31.49 LDF 1 Roon Nucleus REV B -> DH Labs Mirage USB Cable -> Ayre QB-9 Twenty DAC -> SPL Elector Preamp -> Bryston 2.5 Cubed amp -> Magnepan 1.7i speakers + REL T9x jonathan Link to comment

There's a name for that: rip-off Britain. Stuff has always been priced at the same number in pounds, euros, and dollars, even when the pound to dollar rate was 1:2. With the falling pound, it's actually become less of a rip-off. Thank you, brexiteers. Link to comment
Phil Baker
Seems like it may be a pricing error by Warner. Not likely they would intentionally undercut their customers. Link to comment
spin33
Well, it appears that the U.S. NY/Warners store site is undergoing a reorganization and adjustment in pricing. Earlier, I purchased and downloaded Psychedelic Pill 192/24 FLAC for $9.99. (That's a 'double album' btw). All the other HD offerings I could see were similarly priced. Left to run some errands while it was downloading, figuring I'd probably grab a couple more titles when I returned home if all had turned out well. No such luck. All pricing has changed. My Psych Pill downloaded just fine and I'm listening to it now. Guess I ended up with a one-time deal as it's now listed for $25.99. All other titles showing have a similar 150% increase from what I'd seen earlier. That, and there seem to be titles missing that had been there before. The Storytone (Deluxe Version) I'd referenced before doesn't show on the main HD page, but it can be found by doing a search and it's now $32.98, not the $13.99 I'd seen earlier. Seems like, in the end, it will prob be a case of Warner having messed up the pricing on their own site rather than NYA/Orastream's. Popular Post left channel
Thanks @OraStream. Looks like you folks did another great job, and apparently an Android app is on the way next. Those of us on the NYA list received the following e-mail last week. I'm happy for Neil, and I enjoyed the web preview for a few days last year. Personally I would have subscribed to a general Pono streaming service, however I won't subscribe to just one artist at any price. (Even if Neil were among my top ten artists. He's not. Sorry.) There's just be no end to it. Still, I wish you all the best of luck. --------------------------------------------------------------Neil Young Archives – Hi-Res Time Machine Hello Neil Young Fan! I'd like to provide some positive feedback for all your dedicated efforts. I've been using the Archives since they opened and have been consistently thrilled and awed by the treasure trove of quality and quantity overflowing within. Being given the freedom to explore the catalog in such high fidelity has directly led me to purchasing vinyl albums—both new reissues and vintage—that have been absolutely thrilling listening experiences. The Times Contrarian newspaper is equally delightful and insightful. The recent articles and videos from the Harvest era are exceptionally Rad. Whenever the subscription model is ready, I'm all in. I'll lay that cash on the barrelhead son, as that old song goes. Thanks for all the magic, thanks for all the songs, keep on rockin' in the free world... Shawn Hi, This isn't a question—just an expression of gratitude. Neil is my favourite artist, but what I also love about him is how much of an innovator and enthusiast he is for other projects, music-related or not. Age or financial concerns have never dampened his ability to do groundbreaking work. This website has blown me away, and Neil's passion and genius comes through at every level. He is an inspiration in every way and I am so grateful for him and his team for putting his music out there in this way (as well as all the ephemera). Thank you Neil and thank you everyone involved in this project. As soon as it becomes a subscription service, I'll be a lifetime subscriber. Jonty Thanks to Warner Bros for sending out this letter for us, and thanks to all my friends at Warner Reprise. HalSF and The Computer Audiophile 2 Everyone wants to date my avatar. Link to comment
