nicholasg
I have obtained some excellent advice here, so forgive me that this post has nothing to do with music or iTunes ;-)I have used a Canon multifunction printer (printer, scanner and fax - MX870) for years. Nice quality output but not very good Mac support. Their drivers have never supported faxing from a Mac and sometimes the device "disappears", forcing a power-cycle to make it "reappear". They also do not have a driver for High Sierra, so I need something new.Another annoying thing is they re-design the ink cartridges when they come out with a new model. My requirements are pretty simple: -1) Reliable. I only print hundreds of pages a year, but it usually something important2) Plays nice with Mac3) Does not have to be super cheap, but better if less than $5004) No need for photography quality outputAnybody have a multi-function they can recommend? Thanks,Nicholas Link to comment
johnbshk
One key question is whether you want/need colour. I still prefer Canon inkjet for colour printing, but Brother laser for black and white MFC as their continuing software support is quite good. John Link to comment
kirkmc
I have never owned a multi-function, but I've been using Brother laser printers for more than a decade. They're reliable, and they are cheaper to maintain than many others, since you buy the toner and drum separately, so can use the drum longer than when both are in the same cartridge.
