bmoura
This looks interesting. Bach's Goldberg Variations performed with a vocal ensemble rather than piano. New from Cobra Records in Europe. Not on SACD, DSD Stereo, Binaural and Surround available by download ahead of the Stereo CD release date. Quote "Padam sings Bach Goldberg Variations is the latest release from Cobra Records. The recording features a re-composition of the Goldberg Variations for choir & baroque ensemble by Gustavo Trujillo that is performed by Kamerkoor Padam conducted by Maria van Nieukerken. The album is a DSD Exclusive, Not on SACD release. It will be available on Stereo CD on October 27th, but why wait? You can get it now at the Native DSD Music store in Stereo, Binaural and Multichannel DSD (up to DSD 256) and DXD. Cobra Records tells us "Some of the variations were originally from songs, such as the Aria and the Quodlibet. Other variations almost beg to be sung. That is why the idea was born to rewrite the Goldberg Variations for 16 voices & baroque ensemble. Melodies have been shifted and dissonants and appogiaturas extended. Tone colors have been substituted within a single musical line. Additional contours have been created by the text. All of these make the sung Goldberg Variations on this DSD Album an exciting new and old work!" 3 https://cobra.nativedsd.com/albums/COBRA0050-padam-sings-bach-goldberg-variations https://www.facebook.com/NativeDsdMusic/photos/a.765908406800903.1073741828.497854580272955/1543561529035583/?type=3 Link to comment
