steklo
Hi, when I started ripping my CD collection some years ago I didn't fill the album artist tag for all those albums, because I thought that was not necessary (and actually if for iTunes only it works that way). Meanwhile I realized that a lot of software like Audirvana or Logitech media Server need this tag being filled to work as expected. My library has grown constantly, I fill the album artist tag for some time now and I still manage my library using iTunes. Is there an easy way to identify those albums which do not have album artist field filled? I took a look at Doug's AppleScripts for iTunes but could not find a script for that. I think a simple "copy artist tag to album artist tag" would get me into even more trouble... Any idea? Best regards Stefan Link to comment
wwaldmanfan
In iTunes: sort library in "songs" view > View > View Options > Column Browser > add "Album Artist " > sort by Album Artist Link to comment
steklo
Never thought it would be that easy! Thanks a lot! Just for the record: You need to be in "Song View" mode to get the option to add "album artist" in column browser... Link to comment
DougAdams
Yes, you may not want the Album Artist to be the same as Artist in every case A Smart playlist with rules "Album Artist" is "" set to live updating will not only find tracks with empty Album Artist tags, it will also remove them as you add text to each track's Album Artist tag. That way you won't tie up your main library. dougscripts.com Link to comment
