UKenGB
I would like to be able to find out in iTunes what actual audio is contained in the media files (mainly Movies and Videos). I can easily do this in the Finder, but I'd really like to be able to create a playlist of only the Movies with multi-channel (usually 6, or 5.1) audio or conversely only those with just 2 channel stereo. I cannot currently find any way to get iTunes to reveal that information and it doesn't even seem to be in the AppleScript dictionary. Suggestions? Link to comment
kirkmc
The afinfo command in Terminal can give you that info; I don't know of any other way to see it. Here's an example of output for a movie: afinfo /Volumes/Music/iTunes\ Media/Movies/Nobody\'s\ Fool/Nobody\'s\ Fool\ \(1080p\ HD\).m4v File: /Volumes/Music/iTunes Media/Movies/Nobody's Fool/Nobody's Fool (1080p HD).m4v File type ID: m4af Num Tracks: 2 ---- Track ID: 1 Data format: 2 ch, 48000 Hz, 'paac' (0x00000000) 0 bits/channel, 0 bytes/packet, 1024 frames/packet, 0 bytes/frame no channel layout. estimated duration: 6612.032000 sec audio bytes: 129037402 audio packets: 309939 bit rate: 156124 bits per second packet size upper bound: 1094 maximum packet size: 1094 audio data file offset: 6654204 optimized format list: [ 0] format: 2 ch, 48000 Hz, 'paac' (0x00000000) 0 bits/channel, 0 bytes/packet, 1024 frames/packet, 0 bytes/frame Channel layout: Stereo (L R) Loudness Info: media kind : "Movie" sound check volume normalization gain: 0.00 dB ---- Track ID: 2 Data format: 6 ch, 48000 Hz, 'pac3' (0x00000000) 0 bits/channel, 0 bytes/packet, 1536 frames/packet, 0 bytes/frame no channel layout. estimated duration: 6612.032000 sec audio bytes: 317377536 audio packets: 206626 bit rate: 384000 bits per second packet size upper bound: 1536 maximum packet size: 1536 audio data file offset: 6658602 optimized format list: [ 0] format: 6 ch, 48000 Hz, 'pac3' (0x00000000) 0 bits/channel, 0 bytes/packet, 1536 frames/packet, 0 bytes/frame Channel layout: 5.1 (L C R Ls Rs LFE) [ 1] format: 6 ch, 48000 Hz, 'pac3' (0x00000000) 0 bits/channel, 0 bytes/packet, 1536 frames/packet, 0 bytes/frame Channel layout: 5.1 (L C R Ls Rs LFE) Loudness Info: media kind : "Movie" I write about Macs, music, and more at Kirkville.
