mourip
Does anyone have a recommendation for disk cloning software that will work well with Windows 2012R2? "Don't Believe Everything You Think" System Link to comment
joelha
Clonezilla. Not pretty but it's free and boots from a flash drive. Link to comment
plissken
Acronis True Image. Just keep hitting dealnews.com and you may get it for next to free. Link to comment
mourip
Thanks for the two tips. Acronis has a $30 off coupon on NewEgg and dealnews.com gets me $10 off so I can get it for free. Oddly this afternoon while I was playing music my second disk that has my music on it became unavailable. I pulled it and it seems to be working so I need to figure out what happened. Manually copying files to another computer currently. I do have a backup on my NAS also. "Don't Believe Everything You Think" System Link to comment
Adaqin1500
Hope this will not be too late. I would like recommend you a fantastic disk cloning software - AOMEI Backupper. It is completely free and easy to use. You can do disk clone with just a few clicks. It allows you to clone if your destination hard drive is smaller than source drive. Also, it is not just a disk clone software, it is still a professional backup and restore software. Do not miss it. Here is the link of disk clone. http://www.backup-utility.com/help/disk-clone.html Link to comment

I am replacing the data cable and will fire up my server again today. Hopefully "fire up" is a poor choice of words! "Don't Believe Everything You Think" System Link to comment
seeteeyou
If we're actually turning Intel Optane Memory into a boot drive, ted_b already tried both AOMEI Backupper and EaseUS but both of them resulted in unbootable Optane afterwards Finally he tried Paragon Migrate OS to SSD and Optane turned out to be bootable https://www.paragon-software.com/landing-pages/migrate-OS-to-SSD/ https://www.paragon-software.com/home/migrate-OS-to-SSD/ Link to comment

scan80269
As an alternative to disk cloning, it may be possible to install a clean copy of WS2012R2 into a second drive using the same product key. In my experience, Windows Server activation is pretty tolerant of changes to mass storage. Link to comment
