Nice job Chris.  So would your DNA picture on the wall act as an absorber or diffuser, J/K:).  I remembered you had that hung on the wall when I was listening/watching to your interview on Home Theater Geeks.

I'm surprised you haven't mic tested your room with all your computer knowledge.

I loved the comment about your food tasting better when you plugged your refrigerator into your separate power mains LOL.

I liked the lightheartedness tone and found Chris's comments on acoustics interesting though?  I agree in the context that acoustics isn't at all "easy" but Chris pointed out the importance of "the room" and getting some measurements etc.. but has not pursued it yet.

Being this is a full time gig and as much time that is spent in that room, the amount of gear tested etc.. I would think getting the room up to snuff would/should be a priority, no?  Not to say the room isn't already in good shape, but without getting some sort of analysis the potential for improvement could be significant.

There are a couple individuals/companies that do a sort of "room play" / acoustic analysis.  Going that route is no doubt certainly more expensive than doing it yourself / researching.  However, with the amount spent on gear, I can't imagine it would be hard to justify.  My $.02

@The Computer Audiophile I would definitely put DRC above a balanced power transformer in your list. Every time I see your room in a picture its shouts: "I am the weakest link!" :).

I consider DRC (in my case Lyngdorf's approach) the biggest upgrade I have ever encountered. Much more than going from a medium level DAC to a high-end one for example. Most of us don't have ideal listening rooms with full acoustical treatment and complete freedom in placing equipment.

What amazes me for a long time is that the 'DSP, Room Correction etc.' forum is so lifeless. If something is computer based and driven, DRC and DSP is. And why never a review of products by Trinnov, Illusonic and Acourate, to name a few?

I don't disagree. I'll be meeting with Trinnov at CEDIA this year. I'd also love to have a few DRC options in here to test and write about. From DIY to dedicated hardware. We can all probably use it.

Thanks for the post.

You're welcome. I look forward to your findings!
