Repeat Search in <another play list>

I often find that when I do a search in one playlist in iTunes and (finding nothing), want to repeat the same search in a different place or play list.  I have not found any way to do this.  I can select all, copy, then paste but it is a bit cumbersome and I often forget to do it before switching locations.

 

Finder has the same problem  - but is worse as search criteria are often elaborate.

 

Any way to do this?

 

Or a way to ask Apple development groups to implement it?

Short of copying the text from the search field box before switching to a new view, as you describe, I don't think so. I suppose you could Search Entire Library, but this doesn't render the results in a very helpful way, IMHO.

 

It is regrettable that the local iTunes search does not have a "Recent Searches" like the Store and Apple Music interfaces do.

I doubt that's something they'd care very much about. It's certainly an edge case.
