NOMBEDES
I cannot change my "output" in the MIDI set up menu to my DAC. I click the button to change from Airplay or whatever to my DAC and the speaker icon will not move. What am I doing wrong? Make sure all your audio playback applications are closed not just minimized. One could be controlling the output exclusively. Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment
wgscott
1. Option-click the speaker icon in the menu bar and see if that works. 2. Reboot computer Edit: Chris's response is wiser. Try what he suggested first! Link to comment
NOMBEDES
Ha, rebooting the computer is how I got in this fix! thanks, I will try your suggestions. In any dispute the intensity of feeling is inversely proportional to the value of the issues at stake ~ Sayre's Law Link to comment
Bob Stern
To choose the default output device, you don’t even need Audio MIDI Setup. You can do it in OS X System Prefs > Sound > Output tab > Select a device for sound output. HQPlayer (on 3.8 GHz 8-core i7 iMac 2020) > NAA (on 2012 Mac Mini i7) > RME ADI-2 v2 > Benchmark AHB-2 > Thiel 3.7 Link to comment
NOMBEDES
Thanks all. Reboot worked. @Bob Stern. Yes I did go with your option. But I am guessing there was a problem with OS X as nothing was working. As stated above, I had to reboot again. I am guessing that something went amiss during first reboot. I blame the Russians.
