Rosewind
Hi. I have had my Paul Pang USB v1 die on me in my CAPS music player - it now fails to be recognized on Win Server 2012 and 2016 after a few years' solid use. So I am looking at simple and inexpensive options now. 1) Have the card repaired (if possible) and keep on using my fine Nuforce U192s to "translate into" coax out. 2) Buy an Auralic Aries mini or a MicroRendu and keep on using my Nuforce U192s to "translate into" coax out. I have already had an Aralic Aries mini in the house, but I sold it on because I already had streaming capabilities enough in the house at the time (1) Paul Pang + Nuforce U192S ; 2) Esi Juli@ spdif out). 3) Build an Allo network streamer = network to coax out "converter" (no need for a DAC) Re option 3: How would I go about creating a streamer with SPDIF / coax out with the Allo Digione to feed my Audio Note Dac 3? Thanks. Kind regards, Peter Caps V3 music player. Link to comment
Rosewind
Option 1 is a no go: ----------- Hi, Sorry! There are no spare parts for the V1 card, Please consider the v2 card ... Regards Pang.Kai-Yu ------------------ A very quick reply from Mr Pang. Thanks! So options 2 or 3 - or buy a v2 card. Hmm. Caps V3 music player. Link to comment
Rosewind
Option 3:RPI2 or 3DigiOne5V psuCasingThanks for a swift reply from Allo!I may give this a go, and even buy the usb out option too + kali reclocker + Piano Dac. Just to see how the Allo + RPI do in my set-up in its various guises. Caps V3 music player. Link to comment
SparkSpark
Hello, I currently use the RPI3 + DigiBerry Digi+ and JRMC on Raspbian I'm tempted to upgrade to the Allo DigiOne, but not sure if it would work with Raspbian and JRMC, everyone seems to get it to work with Volumino or Roon. I'm really not familiar with Linux and need 'dumb instructions' to get it to work - I did manage to get JRMC to work since they have such excellent forum/support - this doesn't seem to be the case with Allo...? Please share from your experience, Thank you! Link to comment
Popular Post SparkSpark
OK, This might be useful to others... I got the Allo Digione, very nice piece of kit, sounds noticeably better than the Hifiberry digi+ it replaced. The rest of my system is: RPI3 + Allo Digione -> BNC -> Schiit Yggy -> Schiit Freya -> ATI 6002 -> ML electromotions + REL S/3 I thought the Yggy is very good with reclockign but I guess improving teh upstream especialy for relatively little money is worth it! Also the ALLO case quality is impressive, by far the best RPI case I've seen. If like me, you've installed the Allo Digione and surprised it doesn't show up in Raspbian, here's what you need to do: You basically need to enable the drivers in Raspbian, assuming your distribution is updated - sudo apt-get dist-upgrade You need to edit the config.txt file in your /boot folder - you can't do it with the Pi running, it's protected - so what I've done is remove the memory card, open it in a mac (OSX is based on Lunix, windows won't work) and add teh following line: dtoverlay=allo-digione Reboot, run sudo apt-get dist -upgrade again just to be safe and reboot again That's it! The digione will show in JRMC's output options and you are welcome to sonic bliss! Good luck! jventer and rruffin 2 Link to comment

George Hincapie
I have to say it would be better for all concerned if Allo created a writable image for the DigiOne that supports Roon as HiFiBerry have done for their HATs. SparkSpark 1 Link to comment

Emcee
I just configured a DigiOne player with DietPi and installed LMS and Squeezelite on it. They both show up in My Devices on my PC but do not show up in LMS for player selection. Any clues? Link to comment
Bikutoru
Got my Digione today. It is very good sounding. I'm running through BNC out of Digione to BNC on my 2Qute. Is it better then USB from RPI to 2Qute? I cannot hear any huge difference, but it is at least as good. Why I wanted to try it? USB on RPI is considered 'dirty' but 2Qute has galvanic isolation so it makes RPI a very pristine sounding player, anyway I decided to try. I feel it was a nice try but so far it have not really improved the SQ for me. What it has improved - USB connection sometimes would make these little pop/reset sounds, it might be due that the RPI bus is shared between ethernet and USB. With Digione's BNC not pops or any other artifacts, at least that's an improvement. May be the sound will improve with burn in of Digione or/and BNC cable, which is possible, but it is too much of a voodoo concept to me. BNC cable ordered from Allo with Digione, looks very nice even it is a bit too long for my needs. LPSU, no I am not using any LPSU. To my ears, my setup sounds so good that I mostly concentrate on music, not on LPSUs or cables of different kind..LOL Only once in a while when I have a hardware itch I do read these hardware threads on forums and try something, but again music consumes most of my time, not jumping from dac to another more expensive dac and cable after cable. my > overly > fancy > system > with > directional > interconnects > powered > by > ego & linear fusion reactor Link to comment
George Hincapie
The Allo BNC cable can be bettered easily for not much money - have a look on Ghent Audio. And you *should* use an LPSU with a Pi if you want decent SQ out of it - the standard supplies suck balls. But it's your life - do what you want fella. Link to comment

If you want me to feel like I'm missing something you'd need to provide some kind of proof that Ghent Audio's BNC cable is better than Allo's BNC cable. Otherwise you sound like you just want to feel better at anybody's expense, in this case my. You said it is very well - do what you want, it is your life. my > overly > fancy > system > with > directional > interconnects > powered > by > ego & linear fusion reactor Link to comment
George Hincapie
You've got completely the wrong end of the stick; I am trying to help you. You can't post you aren't happy about the SQ your system provides then get a shitty on because someone suggests things that will help. Take the advice or don't, it's your choice, but don't be a dick when people help or you'll get no help from anyone. Link to comment

Emcee
Well in case someone is interested I tried DietPi and Volumio but never managed to get my Digione Player to work with LMS. In the end I gave piCorePlayer a try and it worked right away. I'm not familiar with any of these so I don't know what, if anything I would have gained had I have gone with DietPi or Volumio. For now I need to do some listening and see if/how it betters my trusty SBT. I'm using an old CIAudio VDC-SB 5V @ 2.2 amps power supply. I might look into a PSU upgrade as well. Link to comment

But I haven't got a DigiOne so who knows? Link to comment
George Hincapie
Just a quick post to see whether there has been any development in the software for the DigiOne? Is there a true burn and play image yet (that requires no config)? Link to comment
