Speed Racer
Has anyone here had a chance to listen to the Salk Song3-A speakers? What did you think of them? They were used in the Schiit Audio setups at recent shows. Thanks. Link to comment
TubeLover
I think all Salk speakers represent great value and performance, and have heard the Song 3-A's and found them extremely nice, especially paired with the Wells amplifier. JC Link to comment
Speed Racer
Thanks!! My plan is to use the Song3-A's with two Schiit Vidar amps in mono block mode. I would think that would work well! Link to comment

I would think that would work well! I visited this speaker/Schiit setup at RMAF this last October. The sound was...unimpressive. Flat, bass shy, etc. Was it the room? Probably. Can you tell much at a show? Probably not. The speakers were right up against the wall if I remember correctly. I ended up with a Saga anyways and I probably would have the Vidar amp if they were available a few months ago (ended up with a Parasound A21 to drive my Legacy's). I would have been more hesitant with the Salk speakers however. but really those conditions were surely to blame. Just my impressions...not sure how valuable they are. Hey MQA, if it is not all $voodoo$, show us the math! Link to comment
Speed Racer
Thanks, crenca! It's difficult with Salk because they don't sell through regular shops. Even if they did, I would have to find one local to me. Salk does have a reasonable evaluation period (30 days). I am still thinking..... Link to comment
davide256
I heard these at CAF 2018, outstanding resolution, one of the few rooms where cymbals had proper sizzle, sheen and full orchestra didn't embarrass. http://www.salksound.com/model.php?model=Song3+Encore Regards, Dave Audio system Link to comment
coleb13
Their cabinets are really beautiful - the pictures don't seem to do them justice. I was so distracted by their looks it was hard to concentrate on their sound. Link to comment
Ralf11
wow - just a bit over $4k quite reasonable based on listening reports Link to comment

TubeLover
You will not find a better experience than dealing with Jim Salk, and his speakers represent extraordinary value and quality. I've spent many hours at his facility and know this first hand. And you are right, his cabinet quality and finish are unmatched. I would not hesitate to pull the trigger. This is American made products at their best. JC trappy 1 Link to comment
diecaster
The Salk build quality and looks are first rate. Too bad the sound of the speaker didn't do anything for me. The speakers I have are not anywhere close on the aesthetics, but they do sound much better. Allan F 1 Link to comment
