Maybeex
My set up is: Mac Mini connected to 2qute through USB to my amplifier. Before this, I didn't have a dac and I was connecting mac mini directly to my amplifier and control the volume through my keyboard. After installing the 2qute, I cannot control the volume through my keyboard. Is there a solution for this? Thanks in advance. Link to comment
warp2600
That is because your Mac sends a bitperfect digital stream of the files you play to the DAC. When you were able to change the volume on your keyboard, the computer utilised digital volume control, which AFAIK alters the original bits and it is said to have a negative impact on sound quality. Now, your DAC receives the exact bits of the digital music files you play and this way you are closer to the sound stored in the files. You can use the analog volume control of your amp. It may be inconvenient for you perhaps because the volume knob is furher away from you than your keyboard, but sound wise you are better off. What music player do you use? iTunes? Link to comment
Maybeex
Thank you for your answer. I am using Tidal, Spotify and Netflix. I have Audirvana as well but after the convenience of streaming, I almost stopped using it. Link to comment
