wgscott
Did you write-protect the file in iTunes? Or is the file owned by a different username? This is the clue what is going wrong: iTunes got [an] error: File permission error. Link to comment
Sam Spade
Hello wgscott, When you say write protect do you mean is my iTunes library authorized or do you mean is my library encrypted? I downloaded some free legal FLAC files. I have no idea if there is another user name attached to the file, but I do not see why there would be. How can I check this? Is it embedded in the metadata? Interestingly, I did the same conversion in XLD and there was no such error. How do I correct the error in MAX? Thank you for your help. Link to comment

Why don't you just use XLD for this kind of thing? In my experience, it's better than MAX which hasn't been updated since 2009. Sam Spade
I have been using MAX for a while and know it well. XLD is new to me, so I am unsure of all the ins and outs. But yes, MAX it is old. Also, I was wondering if the music file was bad in some way, or if the file had been f'd with, or worse - there is an issue with my iTunes library. Link to comment

It looks the problem has to do with the interaction between Max and iTunes: https://bugs.launchpad.net/maxosx/+bug/368342 If you pop the following in Google you can find more references: max "An error occurred while tagging the file" Sometimes it's like someone took a knife, baby Edgy and dull and cut a six inch valley Through the middle of my skull Link to comment
