MAX - I am getting an error when coverting FLAC to AIFF - A little help please

Recommended Posts

hello people,

i am using MAX to covert FLAC to AIFF and am getting an error. MAX has always worked great for me, with this being the first issue i have had.

the error msg. reads: An error occurred while tagging the file [insert name of song].aiff

iTunes got and error: File permission error.

how do i fix this?

Hello wgscott,

When you say write protect do you mean is my iTunes library authorized or do you mean is my library encrypted?

I downloaded some free legal FLAC files.

I have no idea if there is another user name attached to the file, but I do not see why there would be. How can I check this? Is it embedded in the metadata?

Interestingly, I did the same conversion in XLD and there was no such error.

How do I correct the error in MAX?

Thank you for your help.

Why don't you just use XLD for this kind of thing? In my experience, it's better than MAX which hasn't been updated since 2009.

I have been using MAX for a while and know it well. XLD is new to me, so I am unsure of all the ins and outs. But yes, MAX it is old. Also, I was wondering if the music file was bad in some way, or if the file had been f'd with, or worse - there is an issue with my iTunes library.

It looks the problem has to do with the interaction between Max and iTunes:

If you pop the following in Google you can find more references:
