Ayre DAC disappears from Amarra Audio Device Preferences

Hi, my Ayre QB-9 DSD plays fine through Amarra 3, except that Amarra appears to lose the DAC in its Audo Device Preferences panel every time the DAC/stereo system is switched on. (Audio MIDI setup sees the DAC fine.) The slider that selects the DAC is in the right location, but the DAC name just disappears. The result is that iTunes and Amarra look like they're playing the file, the track time progresses, but no sound.

 

I have to rescan to get the DAC name to reappear — which starts the music playing again.

 

Anybody else have this issue? Or the best way to go about solving it? My mac mini server is headless, so it's really inconvenient to have to share the screen remotely from one of my other machines each time I want to turn on the stereo. Thanks.

Got the same dac and the same Amarra and I don't have that problem. Strange. I use Dirac so that might have an effect.

Yes I have had the same problem. I discussed it with Ayre and they explained that if you power off your DAC or computer the settings may be lost. A few things to try if you have not already done so. Try different USB connections on the Mac Mini. Keep the DAC powered on all the time. Play around with the sequence that you use to turn off equipment if you don't leave everything on. The typical sequence for me is amp>preamp>dac>computer. For some reason the problem is inconsistent in my system although I'm not sure why.

That explains it in my case. I leave my equipment powered up.

I have the same issue every time I power off my audiophilleo to recharge the battery. I just rescan and move the pointer. The Mini stays on.

Is there another audio program starting up or running that is using those audio ports? Also try saving the preference setting in Amarra if not already done.

Same with the Stello U3 USB comverter. Never really bothered with finding out why, just reselected it when needed. Saving settings makes no difference.
