94941
So Sonic Studio sent out an email to customers about a week ago stating that an update to sQ would be available 3/31. Great. Nice of them to give us a heads up. Their website noted that, yes, the update would be available on March 31st. Today is March 31st. Their website says "Latest Version Available Now!" But there's no indication anywhere on the site as to where the update can be downloaded. (The download section of the site lists only sQ 2.0, not 2.1.) There are only buttons for going through and paying for the product again or downloading a "free trial." Neither of those buttons indicate what version you'd be downloading, 2.0 or the new 2.1. I really like the Amarra software. I think they have the best sounding playback software on the market. But their roll outs of products and upgrades are among the most bungling, inept, and casually sloppy of any software company I've ever seen. Their licensing procedures have been changing and rather awkward at times and their communication with their customer base has been lousy. This stuff isn't the end of the world but I just don't get why a company like Sonic Studio is so sloppy and sort of arrogant towards its own customer base. I really wonder who's running the shop. Communicating clearly isn't hard to do. You just have to care enough to make an effort. EDIT: Okay, they just updated the download section of the site. Nevermind...... Why didn't they just do it at the beginning of the day and save me a rant? Link to comment

jiminlogansquare
I updated and found that all the EQ presets had been zeroed out - quite literally. No actual presets, and all the labels just say "0." I was able to upload my user preset EQ, but that is all. Anyone else having these issues? Link to comment
Melvin
Downloaded and all the presets are gone! Not happy .. jim .. you posted as I was doing the same. Link to comment
Jimmypowder
Presets gone!! and the fucking software is even worse with Tidal with glitches galore. Snap ,Crackle ,Pop. I think Im done with Tidal .Amarra-Shit update. Link to comment
94941
Yep, the presets are gone. And I'm not able to confirm activation of the software either. I checked the activation status after install and it was blank so I entered my email and activation code. Those fields go blank again after I enter the info. And the activation status window remains blank as well. Looks like my rant about Amarra ineptitude stands, ha, ha. What is the deal with those guys? Link to comment
Melvin
Hey guys .. Ralph from Sonic Studio got back to me (quickly I might add) and they fixed the issue: http://downloads.sonicstudio.com/Amarra_sQ/21/Amarra_sQ_Release.2120.zip Just reinstall. Link to comment

And Amarra was hyping up in the Tidal streaming thread how great their software works with Tidal . I think not . I'm canceling Tidal . I've seen enough . Link to comment
jiminlogansquare
The reinstall link works. No issues with TIDAL and Amarra sQ 2.1 here. Sounds good. Thanks, Melvin. Link to comment

Melvin
Okay, that brought the presets back but the activation fields are still blank even after the info has been re-entered. Same here. I checked my softWORKZ account and all seems in order, in fact I also installed sQ on a 2nd computer, the activation went fine, and the fields remain blank afterward. I'm not going to worry about it for now. Link to comment

skatbelt
Unbelievable! It took 4 months to come with an upgrade and it still got some faults that where reported a long time ago: faulty representation of the eq-curve after switching sample rate, not remembering the set sample rate after close and re-opening the application. And just after a few minutes I discovered a new quirk: you can't uncheck the 'check for updates on launch' radiobutton. Well you can but it automatically switches on if you leave the preference screen and come back. They should fire the guy responsible for quality control. These are not incidents but structural and going on for years now with Sonic Studio products. To make live easy they decided to introduce yet another product. A so called 'plus' version. In my opinion just a cover up to make more money. And in the Sonic tradition yet another product to mess up with. There should be only one complete and full version with a serious number of EQ bands, the possibility to set all variables exact and manual and without the gadget-insch presets. I'll check back in a few months... Jimmypowder
I still can't get Amarra SQ to work that well with Tidal . It cuts out on Hifi quite a bit . It works fine on all other lower resolution stuff . Link to comment
